🚧 Progress at last on the A447! 🚧

Really pleased to be able to share some genuinely positive news… the long overdue resurfacing works on the A447 have officially begun! 🙌

Working alongside Cllrs Jenny Simmons and Nigel Smith at NWLDC, we’ve submitted countless reports to LCC Highways about what has been one of the worst condition roads in the county. After many letters, persistent pressure, and more temporary fixes than I care to remember… we’re finally seeing proper action 💪

I caught up with the Director of Highways this afternoon, who confirmed that this has been made possible thanks to a significant new Government grant worth many millions of pounds over the next four years 💷 exactly the kind of investment our roads desperately need.

This is a big win, but there’s still plenty more to do. There are many roads across North West Leicestershire that need attention, and I’m determined to make sure our area gets its fair share of this funding.

👉 So over to you… where should I be campaigning next? Drop your suggestions below 👇

Let’s keep pushing and getting things done 👍

The problem with "Nigel Mirage" is that he simply doesn't stand up very well to scrutiny.
Populism = promise everything to everyone
Result = MASSIVE DISAPPOINTMENT

NWL Conservatives headed down to support our colleagues in South Leicestershire Conservatives this morning ahead of the County Council byelection in Narborough

This costly byelection is brought about by the resignation of the Reform CC (who lives in Ravenstone 🤷🏻‍♂️) who has missed meeting after meeting, said nothing in council yet still claimed over £10k in allowances

Following the SEND Motion that was passed at the County Council meeting yesterday, which I supported, I wanted to share my views again on the proposals to close the four Specialist Nurseries in Leicestershire.
I spoke to families and staff after the meeting yesterday and listening to them only strengthen my view that with is the wrong way forward.

Desperate Dan strikes again
This time cutting SEND provision for vulnerable children whilst raising your taxes (despite him saying multiple times he wouldn’t)

🚨 Four Specialist SEND nurseries in Leicestershire face closure.

These two men have the power to stop it. 🛑🛑🛑

When it came to the vote, Conservatives🔵, Labour 🔴, Liberal Democrats 🟠, Greens 🟢 and Independents 🟣all backed protecting this vital provision.🙏

But the leadership of the Reform Group "CHOSE" not to. 😡

This isn’t about party politics.
👉It’s about children with additional needs.
👉It’s about families who rely on early intervention.
👉It’s about life chances.
Specialist SEND nursery provision is not a luxury , it is lifeline support.

When every other group can come together to protect vulnerable children, why not Reform UK

Leadership means stepping up, not stepping back.
The decision can still be influenced.

The question is simple:
Will they act to protect these children , or allow them to close?

🥶 Reform’s election leaflets promised to cut or freeze council tax.

🆙 Now, across councils in the East Midlands, they’re proposing to increase it.

🔗 Different councils. Same Reform. Same broken promises.

🗳 Voters were told one thing and are seeing another now.

Who is running Leicestershire County Council?
Not the elected leader for sure

A statement from our Group Leader, Deborah Taylor.

"Concerns have been raised following social media posts by Cllrs Joseph Boam and Michael Squires.

I welcome the Leader’s swift action in distancing the Council from those comments and his clear statement that they did not reflect the standards expected of elected members.

It is, however, notable that the Leader’s decision to remove Cllr Boam from his Group was overturned by Reform UK nationally.

This raises an important question about where authority lies regarding group membership and internal political arrangements at Leicestershire County Council.

Residents deserve clarity on whether such decisions are made locally by elected councillors or influenced by national party structures.

Transparency on this point is essential to maintain confidence in the Council’s governance and the principle of local democratic control"
