UPDATE — NARBERTH TOWN CLOCK CHIMES

Many residents have kindly been in touch asking about the current absence of the Town Hall clock chimes.

Narberth Town Council undertakes regular servicing and inspection of the Town Hall clock, with the most recent specialist service having taken place during late summer 2025, at which time no significant issues were identified or reported.

Following more recent investigations into the current fault, it now appears that, at some point between that service and the present day, jackdaws have breached the protective netting surrounding the bell tower area and extensively filled parts of the structure and mechanism area with nesting material and debris.

During specialist inspection works, a significant failure of the historic hammer mechanism operating the bell chimes was also identified. As many will appreciate, this is a specialist heritage repair involving an important historic feature within Narberth’s listed Town Hall building, and the restoration required is unfortunately more substantial than first anticipated.

The matter will be discussed further at the next Ordinary Meeting of Narberth Town Council on Tuesday 2nd June 2026, following which a further update will be provided.

The Town Council would like to thank residents for their patience and for the many messages expressing support and affection for the Town Hall clock and its chimes — it is very much appreciated.

Heddiw rydym yn dathlu pen-blwydd arbennig iawn Syr David Attenborough yn 100 oed. 🎉

Mae wedi ysbrydoli cenedlaethau i werthfawrogi’r byd naturiol, ac roedd yn hyfryd gweld Sgomer a Sir Benfro yn cael eu cynnwys yn ei gyfres Wild Isles, gyda’r pâl-adladd a bywyd gwyllt arbennig ein harfordir yn cael eu rhannu gyda’r byd.

Pen-blwydd hapus Syr David — ac diolch am oes o addysg, ysbrydoliaeth ac ymrwymiad i natur a chadwraeth. 🌍🦅🐧

Today we celebrate a very special milestone as Sir David Attenborough turns 100. 🎉

For generations, he has inspired people to appreciate and protect the natural world, and it was wonderful to see Skomer Island and Pembrokeshire featured in Wild Isles, showcasing the incredible puffins and wildlife of our coastline to audiences around the world.

Happy Birthday Sir David — and thank you for a lifetime of education, inspiration, and dedication to nature and conservation. 🌍🦅🐧

Mae Cyngor Tref Arberth yn falch iawn o weld cwblhau’r murlun newydd gwych hwn ar Spring Gardens, Arberth, wedi’i greu gan Lloyd the Graffiti fel rhan o’r gwaith paratoi tuag at Eisteddfod Genedlaethol 2026.

Mae’r gwaith celf yn dathlu stori Rhiannon o’r Mabinogi ochr yn ochr â thirnodau lleol adnabyddus, gan ddod â lliw, diwylliant a threftadaeth Gymreig i galon y dref.

Mae’r prosiect hwn wedi’i ariannu drwy Gronfa Ffyniant Gyffredin y DU ac wedi’i hwyluso gan Menter Iaith Sir Benfro fel rhan o raglen ehangach etifeddiaeth ac ymgysylltu cymunedol yr Eisteddfod.

Mae Cyngor Tref Arberth wrth ei fodd gweld prosiectau creadigol o’r fath yn dod yn fyw yn y dref ac yn diolch i bawb sydd wedi bod ynghlwm â dod â’r murlun yn fyw.

Narberth Town Council is delighted to see the completion of this fantastic new mural on Spring Gardens, Narberth, created by Lloyd the Graffiti as part of the build-up to the National Eisteddfod 2026.

The artwork celebrates the story of Rhiannon from the Mabinogi alongside recognisable local landmarks, bringing colour, culture, and Welsh heritage into the heart of the town.

This project has been funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and facilitated by Menter Iaith Sir Benfro as part of the wider Eisteddfod legacy and community engagement programme.

Narberth Town Council is thrilled to see creative projects of this kind taking shape within the town and would like to thank everyone involved in bringing the mural to life.

Dwlu ar y tywydd braf yma a chael gwneud hwn i Fenter Iaith Sir Benfro. Dathlu hanes Rhiannon o’r Mabinogi y tro hwn a chynnwys ychydig o nodweddion lleol hefyd. Ymlaen i Drefdraeth nesaf...

Loving the sunny weather and getting to do this Eisteddfod wall in Narberth for Menter Iaith Sir Benfro. This time celebrating the Mabinogion tale of Rhiannon as well as featuring some local landmarks. Now on to Newport next…
