We love to celebrate the achievements of our cadets but we don't always hear about the achievements of our dedicated team of staff. CI Tim Marsden has just been awarded HM Lord Lieutenant's Award for Meritorious Service. This is the citation that was read out at the awards ceremony on Tuesday night.

"CI Marsden first joined the squadron in 2018 as a civilian committee member and then transferred over as CI in 2019, Mr Marsden was a vital member of the committee, since becoming a CI he has given enormous amounts of time and energy to the organisation; completing First aid courses, becoming an RCO and most recently qualifying as an archery instructor, not only does he use the new skills on a regular basis he is incredibly dedicated to bringing new experiences to the cadets and encourages involvement in the local community, helping to organise the squadron’s participation in events such as the Rotary club Santa sleigh, the Battle of Nantwich and Nantwich Show as well as arranging Climbing experiences, Skiing trips and using his media and engineering skills to run very successful STEM and media nights. Mr Marsden has very quickly become a pillar on the squadron as he is in the community and can always be relied upon to lend a hand when required. His enthusiasm in everything he does has helped to inspire and shape many of the cadets that have come through in his time and is constantly pushing for the best for the cadets never shying away from a challenge whether it be logistical, administrative or organisational, he is usually the first to come up with a solution. Mr Marsden is simply an unsung hero of the organisation who is more often the first to give praise to others which he is also greatly deserving of himself."

Brilliant work Mr Marsden and thank you from all the staff and cadets at 100 Squadron for your time and commitment.

On Sunday the 12th of January the squadron attended a memorial parade in memory of 1st Lieutenant Arthur Brown who fatally diverted his USAAF Thunderbolt to avoid the town of Nantwich. This event occurred on the 14th of January 1944 and so this year marked the 81st anniversary of his death.

The cadets paraded from Brookfield House car park to the memorial where they laid a wreath to commemorate the brave actions of the American pilot. A two minutes silence was observed in honour of his action.
