No driveway. No EV charger? Not necessarily.

It’s one of the questions we’re increasingly asked by homeowners — particularly around Nantwich and other parts of Cheshire where plenty of properties were built long before off-road parking (or electric cars) was something anyone needed to think about.

The issue usually isn’t getting power to the car.

It’s getting it there safely and legally.

Running a charging cable across a public pavement can create a trip hazard, and rules around cable channels and pavement crossings vary between local authorities. Depending on where you live, other options may include approved pavement solutions, on-street charging, workplace charging or even creating off-road parking.

So if you're considering an EV but don't have a driveway, don't automatically assume home charging is impossible.

Equally, don't buy the car assuming it'll be straightforward.

Get the property and your options looked at first.

We'd much rather tell you what will genuinely work than install something unsuitable just to make a sale.

A new unit is only useful when you can actually start working in it.

This commercial vehicle workshop at Blakelow Business Park had a new tenant ready to move in, but the existing lighting simply wasn’t up to the job.

With the move-in date already set, we completed a full LED lighting upgrade across the workshop in one focused push.

Floodlights were positioned along the steel trusses to give bright, even coverage across the working area, with cabling installed neatly along the existing structure.

The result?

A properly lit, cleanly finished workshop, completed in time for the customer to move straight in and get to work.

Because sometimes the most important part of a commercial installation isn’t just what you deliver.

It’s when you deliver it.

Good work speaks for itself. But reputation is built over time.

It’s built in the jobs nobody sees on social media.

In the phone call that gets returned. The problem that gets sorted. The site left as it should be. The extra thought that goes into a job because doing it properly matters.

We spend our weeks powering homes, businesses and some pretty incredible spaces.

Think you need solar panels to have a home battery?

You don't.

A standalone home battery can charge from the grid, typically when electricity is cheaper, and store that energy for you to use later when rates are higher.

That can make battery storage an option even if your roof isn't suitable for solar, you're not ready to invest in panels yet, or you'd simply like to take better advantage of a time-of-use electricity tariff.

And choosing a battery now doesn't necessarily rule out solar later. With the right system specified from the outset, solar panels can potentially be added in the future.

Whether it makes financial sense comes down to your electricity usage and tariff, so it's something worth assessing properly rather than assuming battery storage is only for homes with panels.

Another day, another look behind the scenes at Portcullis.

Today the team are finalising a 25-panel solar, inverter and battery installation, with Dan connecting the final strings ready for commissioning.

It’s nearly time to bring this one to life.

A lot of the work happens before anyone arrives on site.

This morning Hayden's at the desk working through the drawings, planning containment routes and cable runs ready for the job ahead.

It's the side of commercial electrical work you don't often see, but getting this part right is what helps everything run properly once the team gets on site.
