If you have been impacted by wildfire or are concerned that wildfires have become more common in recent years, NWSCC was copied on a letter from the Scottish Government announcing the publication of a new Strategic Action Plan setting out a number of measures and activities that will improve our prevention, preparedness and response to wildfires in Scotland. The Action Plan has been published on the Scottish Government’s website, a link to which may be found in the letter linked here.

Pedestrians walking down Albert Street may have noticed the installation by BT of some rather unsightly metal poles up to the Young Street junction for full-fibre broadband delivery. Whilst it is encouraging that full-fibre is coming to the West End, NWSCC enquired with BT why overhead, rather than undergound, delivery was chosen and to what extent the poles would be implemented throughout the area. The full response received can be found at the link, there was no response to the second question but on the first, notably, "we decided to move forward with the overhead approach due to blockage or congestion in the underground ducting in the area of our operation." More poles to come? https://www.nwscc.org.uk/news/bt-openreach-poles-on-albert-street-16-mar-2026

NWSCC has been invited by NICE and Colin Armstrong Architects to attend a stakeholder workshop regarding the proposed redevelopment of the public toilet facilities at Nairn Links on Wednesday 18 March 2026, 7.00–9.00pm at Nairn Community & Arts Centre.
We have been asked to reach out to our constituents to get feedback on the three options presently on the table as set out in the drawing and described in more detail in the linked design brief.
If you are living within the NWSCC boundaries, let us know your rankings on the options and any comments on the proposals.
