Being involved with the Parent Councils of the Primary Schools in the Mossend & Holytown area gives me the opportunity to help out when I can and I was happy to pop along to Holytown Primary for a wee visit earlier today.
Lovely welcome as always!

I’m absolutely delighted to give a further update on the upgrade of the two Mossend & Holytown area Play Parks -
I understand that work is planned to begin at the O’Wood Avenue site in Holytown this week - hurray! I’m just waiting on a confirmed update for the King George V Park in Mossend but that is expected to begin this week as well.
Thanks to the Community Partnership Team for all your help and regular updates - the Team must be sick of me contacting them!
Brilliant news!

UPDATE: The bin has been replaced at the top end of Shirrel Road in Holytown earlier today.
Thank you to the Land & Waste Team for a great response!

I noticed this bin at the top of Shirrel Road in Holytown when I came to look at the damaged footbridge recently.
I have reported it to NLC

Me and My Little Prince have had enormous fun making memories this year supporting Summer Fayre events across the Mossend & Holytown Ward. Today we spend a wonderful afternoon at the Lanarkshire Mosque Fun Day. A lot of hard work clearly went into organising this event and we had a great time! Happily, the rain held off for the most part and the light drizzle at times didn’t dampen spirits.
Well done to everyone involved!

Me and My Little Prince went along to support the Summer Fayre at Holytown Primary School earlier this afternoon. Well done to all members of the Parent Council & Staff for organising such an amazing event but a special thank you goes to Naomi & Gordon who will be moving on from Holytown Primary Parent Council at the end of term to pastures new - you both leave big shoes to fill!
You’ve all been amazing!

Update: thank you to the Land & Waste Team at NLC for repairing the bridge and for undertaking the job so promptly after I reported it.

I popped down to have a look at the footbridge over the burn opposite the junction of Dornoch Road and Shirrel Road in Holytown this afternoon on my way back from a litter pick. After I reported it yesterday, I’m glad to say that I met the Team from NLC already on site preparing to close off the bridge for repair today. I understand the repair will be undertaken tomorrow.
Thank you to the local residents who reported this to me.

Councillor update:
I’ve reported the pothole at the entrance to the Car Park on Hope Street, Mossend, to NLC this afternoon and I’ll continue to monitor this.
Also, as part of the road marking refurbishment programme for this year, NLC has confirmed that a job has been issued to refurbish all existing road markings on Hope Street, which will include yellow lines, double yellow lines and ‘School Keep Clear’ signage.
Thank you to the constituents who brought this to my attention.
NLC has responded to the report of the pothole, as follows:
“Councillor, we will arrange for a temporary repair to be carried out to make the foot way safe, then follow up with a permanent patch”.

I popped in to support the Summer Celebration at Bellshill: Central Parish Church of Scotland earlier today. What a turnout! Sandwiches & cakes were delicious and I was lucky enough to pick up a few bits and bobs from the tombola stall.
Great to catch up with Elizabeth and her Dad from the Bellshill Community Council as well.
Lovely afternoon!

As the Primary Schools in the Mossend & Holytown Ward hold their last Parent Council meetings before the start of the Summer break, it’s hard to believe that the School Summer holidays are almost upon us once again.
Even when my own four, now adult, children were young, I remember that the Summer holidays in particular used to sneak up on me for some reason!
Thank you all for welcoming me to your meetings this term. I hope teachers, other staff members, parents, carers and children have a wonderful break - you deserve it!
You’re all doing a brilliant job!
