More than nine in ten council workers in Scotland say they are struggling with the cost of living.

UNISON Scotland surveyed more than 6,000 local government workers. The findings are stark:

94% are finding it difficult to keep up with rising household costs
39% are paid less than £15 an hour
30% earn less than £20,000 a year
12% have taken on a second job

Council staff keep vital services running every day. They deserve fair pay.

COSLA committed two years ago to working towards a minimum rate of £15 an hour. Workers cannot wait any longer.

We are absolutely delighted to announce that the kids gym equipment and humanitarian aid has arrived in Kharkiv, Ukraine. and last week, a family fun day was held at Aquarena with the help of your donations! Here's a message from the organisers:

Dear friends,
I would like to sincerely thank you once again for your support and assistance.
On Monday, we successfully held a children’s celebration event at Aquarena. Around 90 children took part, and everything went wonderfully.
Thanks to your support, the children enjoyed gifts, entertainment, attractions, and many positive emotions. For many families currently living in Kharkiv during this difficult time, moments like these are incredibly important and meaningful.
This event at Aquarena became possible largely thanks to your financial support and solidarity with Ukraine, and we are truly grateful for this - Maksym

We would like to thank everybody for their efforts in making this happen including everybody at UNISON North Lanarkshire branch, Unison South Lanarkshire and Unison Lothian Health Branch and Councillor Kenneth Duffy and North Lanarkshire Council, South Lanarkshire Council and all branches and individuals who donated to make this happen. Important piece on the BBC today about violence in schools. UNISON North Lanarkshire have been at the forefront of this issue locally and nationally, highlighting and campaigning for years now - our members working in schools and nurseries DEMAND safe workplaces.

The incident is one of thousands of attacks on teaching staff each year and many now say violence in the classroom is out of control

🟣 53% working unpaid
🟣 63% stressed by living costs
🟣 1 in 4 struggling to afford basics

Staff leaving early because the pressure is too much.

These are the workers holding communities together. They deserve better than cuts, burnout and political spin.
