Motcombe Community Shop Community run village shop We sell many local products and have fresh deliveries of bread, fruit and vegetables, meat and fish.

Motcombe Community Shop is at the heart of Motcombe Village in Dorset, providing a local and convenient service to villagers and passing trade. There is also a Post Office which is open 9am-1pm/2pm-4.15pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday.

In the first of what will hope will become a regular, monthly post - villager and professional chef, Laura Pope shares with us some of her most treasured and easy recipes that can be made from simple ingredients all sold at the community shop. Watch the video and enjoy some scrummy, yummy milk rolls!

Milk rolls

Makes 16

300ml milk
110g unsalted butter
250g Wessex Mill strong white bread flour
250g Wessex Mill plain flour
2 teaspoons Borwick's dried yeast
2 tablespoons caster sugar
1Ā½ teaspoons fine salt
I large egg, beaten

Gently warm the milk in a pan until hot, remove from the heat, stir in the butter and leave to cool until just warm (body temperature).
In the bowl of a mixer, mix the flours, yeast, sugar and salt using a balloon whisk. Add the milk mix and egg and knead with the dough hook for 5 minutes. Cover and leave to rise until doubled in size - up to 2 hours at room temperature or overnight in the fridge (slow and cool gives better flavour).
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and divide into 16 equal pieces. Shape each into a ball and place onto a lined or oiled baking dish or tray. Cover and leave to rise for 45 minutes. Bake at 190Ā°C normal / 170Ā°C fan oven for 20 minutes, until golden, turning round halfway through so they cook evenly.
