🚨 Reform UK delivers a win for democracy - forcing the government into their second local government U-turn this year! ➡️

Local Government Reorganisation is withdrawn or paused across the country, with changes to next year's elections now cancelled following Judicial Review from Reform-led Councils.

Reform UK Leader Nigel Farage MP said:

“Reform UK not only argued that this government’s plans for local government reorganisation were an unmitigated disaster, but we once again put our money where our mouth is.

“Earlier this year we took on the government and forced them to give the vote back to millions of people after Labour tried to cancel democracy. Now, thanks to our judicial reviews in affected Reform-led councils, the government has backed down on their plans yet again.

“Only Reform had the backbone to stand up to these reckless plans. This is yet another embarrassing defeat for Labour. Only Reform backs real democracy.”

SAVE OUR GREEN BELT! 🌳🇬🇧

It’s the final day of the Reform UK annual conference and I’m thrilled to announce that I will be taking to the main stage this afternoon just after 1pm, to present my motion to ‘Protect our Green and Pleasant Land’!

We must put an end to the tragic loss of our farmland and countryside, something which holds great relevance in Sheffield where our Local Plan directly threatens Sheffield’s green belt.

Thanks to Cllr Jack Byrom of Richmond Ward for seconding my motion, and all of the party members from 10 different branches across the country who supported it.

🚨SOUTHEY RESULT: Reform UK’s Paul Jakeman wins Sheffield City Council seat, bringing their total number of seats up to 11 on the local authority.

🗣️ Statement from Councillor Charlotte Hill - Melbourne & Woodville: 🚧

“I try to keep my Facebook as local as possible, because thats my job! But, as well as being the local County Councillor for Melbourne & Woodville, since May 2025, I have been the Cabinet Member for Highways at Derbyshire County Council too.

This means I work along side other members to make cabinet decisions, and they cover areas like Children Services, SEND & Adult Social Care.

There are 9 of us that make up the cabinet, and we are led by the council leader, Alan Graves, who has worked very hard to make many changes and improvements since our election.

I am honoured to have been in this role for nearly 18 months, and I try my hardest to improve something, no matter how small, for the residents of Derbyshire.

Below is an example of what we have improved during this 26/27 capital programme.

🪣🫧 We have also introduced a sign cleaning programme, so far cleaning 840 signs on the A6, with the A511 in South Derbyshire being one of the next roads to benefit!

I know there is still a long way to go, and not everyone will be happy all of the time, but our small improvements hopefully add up.

Derbyshire County Council has a team of around 400 highways staff members, who I watch work tirelessly, all year round, through all weathers. I am proud of our great in-house team.

Please just keep an eye out for the small changes happening every day and as they build up, we’ll eventually make Derbyshire highways great again😁🚧”

🇬🇧 100 DAYS IN: THE OLD WAY OF DOING THINGS IS OVER

After 52 years of Labour control, Reform UK Barnsley has spent its first 100 days delivering on our promise to put residents first, and proving that change is possible.

✅ WE DECLARED WAR ON WOKE 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
We declared an end to woke politics at Barnsley Town Hall, introduced a clear, common-sense approach to flag flying and returned the St George's Flag to the Town Hall alongside the Union Flag and Barnsley Council flag as standard.

✅ £10 MILLION INVESTMENT BROUGHT FORWARD TO FIX THE ROADS
We brought forward a £10 million Highways Delivery Plan to tackle deliver long-lasting repairs across the borough.

✅ FIGHTING FOR BARNSLEY'S COUNTRYSIDE
We stood firm against plans for a vast solar farm covering the equivalent of more than 130 football pitches.

✅ WE’RE ENDING NET ZERO MADNESS
We’ve ordered a review of climate and net-zero activities and reaffirmed our intention to withdraw Barnsley's Climate Emergency declaration. Programmes lacking clear resident benefit, cost savings or statutory requirement will end.

✅ BIN COLLECTIONS BACK ON TRACK
After years of disruption, we spent time with our frontline crews, exploring practical ways to support a more reliable service for residents.

100 DAYS DOWN.
We've shown that Barnsley Council can be run differently. 💪🏼

The old political free-for-all is over. This is only the beginning. 🇬🇧

🐑 Out with trading standards officers carrying out livestock welfare checks, our Cabinet Member for Communities and Safety Councillor Dan Price went behind the scenes with them at Bakewell Market.

👍 Officers were happy to report no issues, with Cllr Price saying: “This was a real opportunity to see firsthand some of the good work our trading standards teams do across the county. I’d also like to praise the work of our incredible Derbyshire farmers who have our full support.

🐄 “It was interesting to watch the work that goes on to ensure high standards are maintained in caring for livestock.”
