I was delighted to be asked to speak at the Commonwealth Association of Public Accounts Committee conference today that was held at the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Public Accounts Committee is the oldest Committee in Parliament and was founded in 1861. I am delighted to be the 47th chair and I realise what an honour it is.

These conferences are always good to share best practice between Commonwealth Public Accounts Committee chairs, sharing our knowledge of how best to scrutinise public spending.

I look forward to working with my fellow PAC chairs across the Commonwealth in the future.

I was delighted to meet with NFU Mutual this morning, who have just launched their Rural Crime 2026 report.

Even though rural crime across the country fell by 6%, we have seen worrying increases in agricultural vehicle theft, livestock theft and waste crime.
