🔥 A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Open Drill Night on Thursday! 🚒

It was a fantastic turnout and a great opportunity to showcase what it takes to be an On-Call Firefighter.
These events are about more than just demonstrations—they give our communities a real insight into the dedication, training, teamwork and commitment required to respond when the call comes.

☀️ What a glorious day to do something a little different! 🚒
Tonight at 7:00pm, we're opening the doors of Montrose Fire Station and inviting the community to come along and see what we get up to during our weekly drill night.

Here's just some of what you can see and do:
✅ Meet the crew
✅ Sit in a fire engine
✅ See our firefighting equipment
✅ Try on firefighters' PPE – and see if you can get dressed faster than our firefighters!
✅ Have a go at flying drones with Aberdeenshire Drone Services
✅ Test your CPR skills and see if you can score 100%
✅ Watch live demonstrations
✅ Interested in joining the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service? Visit our recruitment table and have a chat with the team

Before next weeks big event, let's meet one of your local Firefighters and learn a little bit about him.

Name: Bradley Greig
Age: 28
Full time job: Bricklayer

How Long have you been an On-Call Firefighter? "Since January 2024. 2 and a half years."

Why did you want to become a Firefighter?
"I wanted to become a firefighter because I’m motivated by the opportunity to help people during some of the most challenging moments of their lives. I enjoy working in demanding environments where I can make a real difference, I knew the role and commitment I would be coming into doing this job, my older brother is also in the fire service so I could see how much of his spare time he committed to the job and it inspired me to see if I had what it takes. I value the discipline, training, and commitment that firefighters bring to their communities. Knowing that I can contribute to helping people in a time of need and while continuously developing my skills is what inspired me to pursue this career."

What is the best part of the job?
"The best part of being a firefighter is helping people when they need it most. Being able to make a positive difference in someone’s life during an emergency is very rewarding. I also value the strong teamwork and sense of camaraderie within the fire service, as everyone works together to protect the community and keep people safe."
