We were fortunate and humbled to see several members of Monmouth Fire Station recognised with a Letter of Congratulations from the Chief Fire Officer at the Spotlight Awards evening held yesterday at Aberbargoed Fire Station.

Our crews do what they do every day to serve their communities and make a difference, never seeking recognition for their efforts. However, the devastating flooding experienced in November last year highlighted the dedication and selflessness of our firefighters. Several crew members continued to support the community throughout the incident, despite facing the possibility that their own homes, vehicles, or family members could also have been affected by the flooding.

Their commitment to helping others, even in the face of personal uncertainty, exemplifies the values of the Fire and Rescue Service. We are incredibly proud to see their actions acknowledged and recognised.

Congratulations to all those who received this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for your continued dedication to serving our community



Roeddem yn ffodus ac yn ostyngedig i weld sawl aelod o Orsaf Dân Trefynwy yn cael eu cydnabod gyda Llythyr Llongyfarchiadau gan y Prif Swyddog Tân yn noson Gwobrau Spotlight a gynhaliwyd ddoe yng Ngorsaf Dân Aberbargoed.

Mae ein criwiau'n gwneud yr hyn maen nhw'n ei wneud bob dydd i wasanaethu eu cymunedau a gwneud gwahaniaeth, heb byth geisio cydnabyddiaeth am eu hymdrechion. Fodd bynnag, amlygodd y llifogydd dinistriol a brofwyd ym mis Tachwedd y llynedd ymroddiad ac anhunanoldeb ein diffoddwyr tân. Parhaodd sawl aelod o'r criw i gefnogi'r gymuned drwy gydol y digwyddiad, er gwaethaf wynebu'r posibilrwydd y gallai eu cartrefi, eu cerbydau, neu aelodau o'r teulu eu hunain fod wedi cael eu heffeithio gan y llifogydd hefyd.

Mae eu hymrwymiad i helpu eraill, hyd yn oed yng ngwyneb ansicrwydd personol, yn enghraifft o werthoedd y Gwasanaeth Tân ac Achub. Rydym yn hynod falch o weld eu gweithredoedd yn cael eu cydnabod a'u cydnabod.

This week we were offered the opportunity to have a closer look at the tunnels that bring you into (or out of) Monmouth.
We were joined by our colleagues from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service as we looked at the Fire Suppression Systems available here including EV Blankets and Extinguishers.
We hope to run a training exercise when the tunnels are closed for maintenance in the future.

Two of our own from Monmouth recently passed their initial course, well done to Maxi and Dylan.

Sunday 26th April we host our first car wash of 2026.
We are also running a drive of clothing donations for our Fire Fighter Charity clothing collections.
Drop your bags of clothes at the Fire Station when we are open for the car wash on Sunday 26th and we will take it into the station for collection so the clothing bins stay empty.
Time for a spring clean 🧼
