Today, members of the Mold Town Primary School Council took part in a special “Mayor of Mold” activity with a £10,000 budget challenge to learn more about the role of Town Councillors and how decisions are made when setting priorities and budgets for the town. 💷🏛️

The session was led by Cllr Megan Lloyd Hughes and Cllr. Suzanne Thomas who guided pupils through discussions about the many services and projects supported by Mold Town Council.

Working together in teams, pupils had to decide how they would spend their £10,000 budget to improve Mold for residents, families and young people.

The session encouraged discussion around:
🌳 Green spaces and the environment
🎉 Community events and activities
🛝 Play and youth facilities
🎄 Christmas lights and town pride
🧹 Cleaner and safer public spaces
🤝 Supporting local organisations and community wellbeing

The young people shared fantastic ideas, thoughtful discussions and clear priorities about what matters most to them in Mold. Their feedback will help inform future discussions around the Mold Town Council Priority Development Plan.

A huge thank you to Mold Primary School Yourh Council for their enthusiasm, creativity and excellent teamwork! 👏

Do you know which council is responsible for what in Mold? 🤔

We often receive enquiries about services that are managed by different organisations, so we’ve created this simple guide to help residents better understand the roles of:

🏛 Welsh Government
🏢 Flintshire County Council
🏘 Mold Town Council

The guide highlights the wide range of local projects and services Mold Town Council supports, including:

🌸 Hanging baskets
🎄 Christmas lights
🎉 Community events
⚰️ Mold Cemetery
📹 CCTV contributions
🛝 Play area matched funding
👕 Uniform Recycling Scheme
🏛 Bailey Hill Centre
💷 Community grants and financial support
…and much more.

It also explains which services are managed by Flintshire County Council, such as:
🗑 Waste collection
🏠 Housing
🛣 Roads
🅿️ Blue Badges
💷 Council Tax

Understanding who is responsible for each service helps residents contact the right organisation more quickly and effectively.

We all work together to support Mold and its residents 💜
