🚨National Resilience Response.🚨
August has continued to be busy for obvious reasons.
Last Friday saw one crew from Minehead mobilised to Hampshire, to assist with wildfire operations in the New Forest.

This was part of a National Resilience operation to support the Major Incident declared earlier in the week.

Minehead crews were not the only resources deployed from Devon & Somerset.
On the same day Cheddar were in attendance.
Mineheads crew deployed alongside West Midlands FRS and Hampshire crews.

Plenty of mini dust tornadoes whilst crews spent the day, damping down and digging out located at the head of the fire.

Mineheads appliance was also spotted and recorded travelling along a deserted M27 and A31.
All thanks to one of our followers in Hampshire - Thanks for sharing with us Brandon 🚒🚨👍

With weather conditions set to remain dry, please take extra care when discarding smoking materials.

Camp fires and Bonfires should not be lit and the use of BBQs in the open is not recommended.

Although the has ended for now, we are still under a VERY HIGH wildfire risk. With tinder dry conditions and a small breeze, any small fires can develop quickly. In recent days we have seen bonfires leading to developing fires. Please don't light bonfires during this continuing dry spell, the embers from these can rise up into the air and land on tinder dry ground igniting the surrounding area in seconds.

No BBQs, No camping fires, and take your glass bottles home!

Thank you to everyone for your help in keeping our communities safe. Today marks the first anniversary of last years tragic school coach crash near Wheddon Cross.😔

Foremost - Our thoughts are with Oliver’s parents at this very difficult time, along with all those children and teachers who were injured and onboard.🫶

Our thoughts are also with the families and close friends of those involved, along with the wider Minehead Middle School community.🙏

Whilst we take time to reflect today and especially this afternoon, we also extend our thoughts and thanks to the many members public who stopped to help. 🤝

Finally - we think about our Fire Rescue teams and all our other First Responder colleagues, who came together and worked alongside each other in such challenging circumstances.🫡🚒🚑🚓🚁

A tragic incident such as this has long lasting memories and implications for everyone involved, for all sorts of reasons.

Today we stand strong and we reach out to each other.
We offer our unwavering support to everyone involved.

No matter how you are affected, you are in our thoughts 🙏🫶

We were also happy to open the doors to support a Charity Motorcycle event that sees a Teddy travel around the UK in a nonstop relay.

https://relayriders.co.uk/

Pictures show the Teddy following his handover and ready for his next leg from Minehead down into Devon.

This year the Relay riders nominated charity for 2026 is ‘Mental Health Motorbike’

Mental Health Motorbike exists to create meaningful opportunities so that together we grow the greater wellbeing of the motorbike community.

The aim is to reduce su***de amongst bikers in the UK. They are building a free, dedicated national network of trained mental health first aiders who can support bikers and their families across the UK.

They do this through 1 to 1 and peer support, events, training activities and projects, working in partnership with other organisations and clubs.

Alongside the incidents, crews continue to train each week on various topics and skills.

Over the last few weeks, the development crews have carried out pumping from open water drills and constructed makeshift dams.
This gave the crew the opportunity to train with both major pumps and the light portable pump.

Other Thursday drill sessions had crews demonstrate BA search and rescue skills.
They have also carried out a table top exercise in ‘Immediate Building Evacuations’.
A process used to systematically record and rescue occupiers in taller buildings involved in fire.
