Great Linford's Little Free Book Exchange #70387

Great Linford's Little Free Book Exchange #70387 We subscribe to this with our Little Free Book Exchange located at the local shops in Great Linford. The community take care of the book stock.

Great Linford's Little Free Book Exchange is a service that inspires a love of reading and builds community, through 24 hour free access to books in our neighbourhood. "Finding books that they enjoy, giving them access to those books and letting them read them," is what Neil Gaiman recommends to teach children how to read for pleasure. Growing our reading culture and community spirit is the aim of

this little box. The idea of taking a book to read and sharing it and returning it or giving a book you recommend - is how we get to know our neighbours and learn about the wider world. It's open 24 hours a day. Our Steward is Dionne Lakey. Our designer and engineer is Stewart Olney. We are part-funded and on site by permission of the Pear Tree Pond Association headed by Alan Senior. We are linked to "The Little Bookshop - Great Linford" by shared events and community. Please only donate one or two books at a time. Any books deposited next to the cabinet will be put in the skip. You can contact the Steward: Dionne Lakey by messaging the page for any queries or for more information. Happy reading!

**Opening Date set for 23rd April 2018**

Has everyone visited the new book exchange on Alverton, Great Linford? I can see our Stewart Olney's handiwork in this. We can officially do a book exchange crawl around our estate now with the three we have. So proud of our community.

So some extra details: Stewart says that he made this from recycled timber and plastic and it lights up at night with the use of an old car battery. The lights are charged by his own solar panels from his house nearby. Extra reasons to show it some love.

It's just behind the kilns if you want to know where to find it.

Merry Christmas from the other Great Linford Little Free Book Exchange. So proud of what the residents of the High Street, Great Linford Village have achieved with this telephone box.

This was refurbished and created by David Argent who lives very locally to this box. So impressed with how much work he put into it and how he just got on with it whilst the rest of us were twiddling our thumbs. I'll post some pics of the work he put in to transforming it.

So much love to this amazing man and condolences to his family and all who loved him.

From the Eric Carle Team: It is with heavy hearts that we share that Eric Carle, author and illustrator of The Very Hungry Caterpillar and many other beloved classics, passed away on Sunday, May 23rd at the age of 91.

When asked why he thinks The Very Hungry Caterpillar has remained popular for so long, Carle said, “I think it is a book of hope. Children need hope. You, little insignificant caterpillar can grow up into a beautiful butterfly and fly into the world with your talent.”

Thank you, Eric Carle for sharing your great talent with so many generations of young readers.

This amazing book is out soon and is making waves across the world. I hope to get a few copies for our book exchanges across the city. See the book in the comments. ~ Dionne, Steward.

My upcoming author debut “Hey You” is also going to be published in Brazil. ☺️

And the reason given by the publisher for choosing it got me very choked up 🥺

“THIS” is why I wrote this book. And to see it already doing what it was made for brings me nothing but joy.

I’ll share more info about this and any other foreign editions coming when the time comes.

The UK edition is available for preorder Pretty much everywhere books are sold and will be on shelves this June 10th. ☺️

Popped over to see Conniburrow's Book Exchange last week. Nice to see it well loved, but it could use some children's books for the bottom shelf. Anyone have any to donate?
