TS Whaddon-Milton Keynes Sea & Royal Marine Cadets We are Milton Keynes Sea Cadets and part of the UK's largest maritime youth charity.

Cadets go to sea, learn to sail and do adventure training, all on a nautical theme, plus get extra skills to give you a head start in life.

⛵️🌊 Another fantastic day on the water for TS Whaddon! 🌊🏄‍♀️

The day after our rowing competition, it was the turn of our sailors and windsurfers to take on the Southern Area Sea Cadets competition!

⛵️ Area Sailing Competition

OC Molly H and Cdt LCpl Ben S competed in the Area Sailing Competition for the first time — and it was also their first time sailing together in coastal conditions!

After a morning of sailing, they finished an impressive 5th place. A brilliant result, especially given the challenging conditions and new experience of sailing together! 👏

🏄‍♀️ Area Windsurfing Competition

POC Gautham P, LC Dylan O, AC Mila B and AC Sam H took on the Area Windsurfing Competition.

For AC Sam and AC Mila, this was their first Area windsurfing competition and their first time windsurfing in coastal conditions. All four cadets put in a fantastic effort throughout the day — and even when they ended up in the water, they climbed back onto their boards with huge smiles! 😁🌊

And what a set of results:

🥇 AC Sam H – 1st, 6.5m Class
🥈 AC Mila B – 2nd, 4.5m Class
🥉 LC Dylan O – 3rd, 5.5m Class
🥇 POC Gautham P – 1st, 5.5m Class

Leading them to bringing home the Windsurfing Overall Trophy — a FIRST for our unit! 🏆🎉

A huge BZ to all our cadets who took part, who represented the unit and Sea Cadets Oxon and Bucks District brilliantly, showed real determination and, most importantly, looked like you were having a great time doing it! 💙

A massive thank you also goes to all the adults who helped make the weekend possible — from transport and training to overnight accommodation. 👏

🏆 **AREA REGATTA ** 🚣‍♀️🚣‍♂️

After an early start, our cadets headed down to Poole to compete in the Southern Area Sea Cadets Regatta taking on rowing races, yole racing, rowing handling and powerboat handling.

And what a day they had! 👏

Our cadets produced our strongest Area Regatta results in a number of years**, with some fantastic performances across the board:

🥇 **Junior Girls – T500 Racing – 1st**
🥈 **Junior Boys – T500 Racing – 2nd**
🥈 **Open Girls – T500 Racing – 2nd**
🥈 **Junior Mixed Double Yole – 2nd**
🥉 **Yole Single Open Male – 3rd**
🥈 **Rowing Handling Team – 2nd**
🥉 **Power Handling Team – 3rd**

These are fantastic results and a brilliant reflection of the hard work, commitment and determination our cadets have put into their training. 💪

Even more importantly, these results represent the strongest showing from our Sea Cadets Oxon and Bucks District at Area for a long time – something everyone involved should be incredibly proud of! 👏

A huge BZ to all our cadet for their hard work both in the lead-up to the competition and on the day. You represented the unit brilliantly and should be very proud of yourselves. ⚓️💙

And a special BZ to the Open Boys from High Wycombe Sea Cadets, who took 1st placein their event! 👏

Two of our senior cadets recently travelled to HMS President in Central London to complete their Sea Cadet Advancement Boards

With an early start and a long day ahead, LC Muhammad M and AC Cameron M represented themselves with professionalism, confidence and pride. They even managed to squeeze in a few of London's famous sights on the journey home! 🇬🇧📸

⚓ Petty Officer Cadet (POC) is one of the highest ranks a Sea Cadet can achieve. It recognises exceptional leadership, commitment, knowledge and the ability to mentor and inspire younger cadets. Reaching this milestone is the result of months—often years—of dedication, hard work and perseverance.

Muhammad's promotion is thoroughly deserved, and we couldn't be prouder of everything he has achieved. Congratulations, POC Muhammad! 👏💙

A special mention also goes to AC Cameron M, who performed brilliantly throughout his board. With just one final element left to complete, he will soon be promoted to Leading Cadet We're looking forward to celebrating that achievement very soon!

🌟 AGM & Awards Evening🌟

What a fantastic evening celebrating another successful six months for the unit! ⚓💙

With the hot weather making uniforms a little too warm, we enjoyed a relaxed evening, making the most of the sunshine with a BBQ 🍔, trying out the unit's brand-new gazebo and giving cadets, parents, volunteers and supporters the chance to catch up and celebrate everything we've achieved together.

It was a pleasure to welcome our Unit President, Mrs Brock, who joined us for the evening. Thank you for your continued support of the unit.

The highlight of the evening was recognising the commitment, hard work and achievements of our cadets. From awards and promotions to qualifications and Duke of Edinburgh achievements, every presentation reflected the dedication our young people have shown over the past six months.

🎉 **A Busy Weekend of Community Volunteering!** 💙

While some of our cadets were competing at the Area Paddlesports Regatta, another fantastic team of volunteers were hard at work supporting the Newport Pagnell Carnival, Duck Race and Newport Pagnell 5k👏

Our cadets, staff and Milton Keynes Sea Cadets-Parents & Supporters Association spent the weekend giving back to the local community while also helping to raise valuable funds for TS Whaddon Sea Cadets

Throughout the weekend they:
🦆 Ran our fundraising stall, including a tombola and Hook-a-Duck
🦆 Helped launch and recover of ducks for the Duck Race
🏃 Assisted at the finish line of the Newport Pagnell 5K
🧹 Helped keep the carnival site clean, tidy and welcoming for everyone

Events like these simply wouldn't be possible without volunteers, and we're incredibly proud of everyone who gave up their time to support both our unit and the wider community. 💙

A huge BZ and thank you to every cadet, member of staff, PSA volunteer and supporter who got involved.

What a fantastic day at the Southern Area Sea Cadets Paddlesports Regatta in Reading! 🌊

Our cadets took on a full day of competition, racing in flat water events, Cross Stream challenges and the ever-popular Kayak Polo. They showed determination, teamwork and brilliant sportsmanship throughout the day, and we're incredibly proud of everything they achieved. 💙

🇬🇧 **National Armed Forces Day 2026 – Aldershot**

As part of the National Armed Forces Day celebrations, members of the unit travelled to Aldershot to join the parade in this year's national event.

Our cadets proudly took part in the parade alongside members of the Armed Forces, veterans and fellow MOD Cadet Forces, helping to recognise the service and commitment of those who serve our country.

During the day, the cadets also had the opportunity to meet Captain of Sea Cadets, Captain MacKenzie, and spend some time chatting with him about their experiences in Sea Cadets.

Despite the hot weather, the cadets represented the unit exceptionally well throughout the day. After the parade they enjoyed exploring the National Armed Forces Day celebrations, and LCpl Ben S was one of a small group of cadets selected to carry out interviews.

Bravo Zulu to all of the cadets and volunteers who took part – you were fantastic ambassadors for both the unit and Sea Cadets.

🇬🇧 **Armed Forces Day Flag Raising – Milton Keynes**

We've had a busy few weeks, so we're taking the opportunity to catch up on some of the events our cadets have been involved in.

On Monday 22 June, cadets were proud to support the Armed Forces Day Flag Raising Ceremony at the Milton Keynes Civic Offices

LC Lukas G and AC Abdullah A were given the honour of raising the Armed Forces Day flag during the ceremony, while POC Jemma B, carrying out her role as Lord-Lieutenant's Cadet, escorted the Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire throughout the event.

A huge Bravo Zuluto all of the cadets and volunteers who supported the ceremony. Despite the warm weather, everyone represented the unit with professionalism and respect, helping mark an important occasion recognising the dedication and service of our Armed Forces.
