What's your CPR tune? 🎶🫀

If someone collapses and isn't breathing normally, you need to push hard and fast in the centre of their chest at 100–120 compressions a minute. That's quicker than most people think, and a song you know well is the easiest way to keep the rhythm.

Stayin' Alive is the classic, but Crazy in Love, Dancing Queen, Uptown Funk and Don't Stop Believin' all hit the right beat too.

Remember: call 999, start CPR and get an AED. You can't make things worse, so don't be afraid to act.

Behind every 999 call is a person too. 💙

Today is World Mental Health Day. It's a good moment to think about the people who show up for everyone else: paramedics, technicians, call handlers, police, fire crews and the volunteers who stand alongside them.

Research from Mind found that nearly 9 in 10 UK emergency services staff and volunteers have experienced stress, low mood or poor mental health at work. 1 in 4 have had thoughts of ending their life.

Those numbers are why the small things matter. Ask your crewmate how they're really doing after a tough job. Listen properly. And give yourself the same care you give your patients.

At Spark Medical, looking after our people is part of looking after our patients. It's OK not to be OK, and it's always OK to ask for help.

Medical providers vary in capability and experience. The Purple Guide puts the responsibility on organisers to do their due diligence before choosing one.

Before you sign, check that your provider holds public liability, medical indemnity and employer's liability insurance, plus fleet insurance if they're bringing vehicles. Then look at governance: data protection, safeguarding, infection prevention and control, and DBS checks for all patient-facing staff.

And take up references from other organisers who've used them.

More than 10 million fans queued for Oasis Live '27, and all 42 dates sold out in three days. That includes 11 nights at the Etihad, 6 at Knebworth and 5 at Celtic Park next summer.

For anyone planning a large event in 2027, this is a useful reminder that the work starts long before the gates open. A medical needs assessment in line with the Purple Guide, early talks with your Safety Advisory Group, welfare provision, and plans for heat, crowd density and long days on site all take time to get right.

There's a new question for organisers too: with CQC registration now open for event healthcare providers, check that your medical partner meets the requirements.
