On behalf of the organisers, we are pleased to share an invitation to the Milton Keynes Great Get Together, 10am-2pm, 27th June at Camphill.

"This will be a community picnic inspired by The Great Get Together, the UK-wide celebration of community, connection and the things that bring us together. The event was created in memory of Jo Cox MP and is rooted in her powerful belief that we have more in common than that which divides us.

"The afternoon will be family-friendly and open to all. It will be a chance for local residents, schools, colleges, faith groups, charities, voluntary organisations, public bodies, parish councils, community groups and local businesses to come together, meet one another and celebrate the people and organisations that make Milton Keynes such a strong and welcoming city.

"As this is a community picnic, we encourage people attending to bring their own food and, where they are able to, to bring a little extra to share with others. We hope this will help people meet new neighbours, start conversations and build connections across the community."

The Children's Commissioner for England has launched a survey aimed at learning the views of 1 million young people up to the age of 18 about what it's like to be a child today.

To be completed either independently or with the help of a responsible adult, children will give their honest thoughts on their communities, their concerns, their hopes for the future, the change they want to see and what they think a good childhood should look like.

🌳 Work in progress at Shenley Brook End Recreation Ground

In a bid to win this year's prestigious , we have so far:

🌸 Replaced 2 dead willow and 4 dead cherry trees
🪾 Replaced a rotten tree with a young European beech
🪧 Placed new signage at all 6 footpath entrances
🎨 Stripped and repainted the top circular bench
🪨 Improved the ground finish underneath the tree sculpture

At 10am this Saturday, Community Trees:MK will return for the maintenance of hundreds of new trees planted in winter 2024 - all are welcome to come and pitch in!

Whether or not we win this year's award, we will keep working to improve the Rec Ground, and all the green spaces under our care.
