Knock knock? Be wary if a tradesperson arrives at your door unexpectedly, it might be a scam.

Some red flags to watch out for are:
❌ Pressures you to decide quickly
❌ Refuses to give you a written quote
❌ Insists on cash upfront

✅ Make sure you take your time, get everything in writing and do your own research.

Watch out for fake delivery texts claiming to be from Royal Mail or other couriers.

They'll say you owe a fee and provide a link to pay - this is a scam. The link leads to a fake site designed to steal your bank details.

🔗 Don’t click on any link or attachment - real couriers don't ask for payment this way

✅ Don’t feel pressured to pay - it’s best to check if it’s a genuine request first

💻 Go direct to the official website or app to track your parcel

❗ Stay when buying disability aids.
Before buying, there are some checks you should
do.
➡️ Some charities might loan you a disability aid
so check if you can rent before you buy
➡️ Check if a grant might be available as extra
support
➡️ Find out if VAT relief is available on the item
you’re buying
➡️ Confirm if there are any ongoing service costs
for a product that you will need to carry on
paying
➡️ Make sure you check returns policies /
cancellation rights
Taking a bit of time upfront can save a lot of
money and stress down the line.
