πŸ•βœ¨ NURSERY – PIZZA MAKING FUN! βœ¨πŸ•

The Nursery children have had a wonderful time making their very own pizzas in class! πŸ˜‹

They chose their own toppings from a selection including tomato, cheese, peppers, and sweetcorn. The children carefully scooped the toppings with spoons and sprinkled them onto their muffin-based pizzas. Our older children even used the sharp knives safely to cut the peppers into small pieces. πŸ”ͺπŸ«‘

As the pizzas baked in the oven, everyone’s tummies started to rumble – they smelled absolutely delicious! πŸ•πŸ‘ƒ

The children were very proud of their creations and kindly shared them at home with their families.

What a fantastic way to develop independence, learn new skills, and explore different foods.

Well done, Nursery! πŸŒŸπŸ™‚

πŸ“š Reading Buddies πŸ“š

Today we launched our new Reading Buddies programme and what a wonderful start it was!

Children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 were paired together and spread out around the school to share stories and enjoy reading together. It was lovely to see the older children supporting the younger children, helping them to sound out words, build confidence and develop a love of reading.

The younger children enjoyed having positive role models to read with, while the older children developed their confidence, communication skills and responsibility as reading partners.

There were smiles, laughter and lots of fantastic reading taking place all around the school. We are looking forward to watching these friendships and reading skills continue to grow throughout the year.

Well done everyone! πŸŒŸπŸ“–

πŸŒπŸ’š BIG GREEN WEEK – PAPER SAVING CHALLENGE! πŸ’šπŸŒ

As part of Big Green Week, we set ourselves a challenge to reduce our paper use and help protect our environment.

We are delighted to share that, as a whole school, we have saved an amazing 9½ reams of paper! 🌳✨

This fantastic achievement shows how small changes can make a big difference. By thinking carefully before printing and reducing unnecessary paper use, we have helped save resources and supported our commitment to being a greener school.

A huge well done to all of our children and staff for working together to make this happen. Let's keep up the great work!

Check out the practical Maths lessons we have done this week to save paper!

πŸ§€πŸ₯ NURSERY – BAKING CHEESE SWIRLS! πŸ₯πŸ§€

Nursery have started their baking this week as part of their exciting topic on Food.

The children made delicious cheese swirls and learnt lots of new skills along the way. They discovered what a grater is and used it to grate cheese before carefully sprinkling it onto the pastry. They then rolled up the pastry, ready for baking.

As the cheese swirls cooked in the oven, the Nursery smelt amazing! They looked delicious when they came out and tasted absolutely wonderful too. πŸ˜‹

What a fantastic way to learn new vocabulary, practise fine motor skills, and try new foods. Well done, Nursery! 🌟

πŸ›’πŸŽ NURSERY – FOOD SHOP ROLE PLAY πŸŽπŸ›’

This term, the Nursery children are learning all about Food, and one of their favourite areas in the classroom is the Food Shop!

The children enjoy role-playing as customers and shopkeepers, using real 2p coins to buy and sell food items. They practise important social skills by saying "please" and "thank you" when making purchases, and love using the shopping baskets, purses, coins, and till to bring their role play to life. πŸ’°πŸ§Ί

This is a fantastic way for the children to develop their vocabulary, communication skills, and confidence, while re-enacting experiences from visits to shops and supermarkets.

Well done, Nursery! 🌟

✍️🌟 YOUNG WRITERS COMPETITION 🌟✍️

Your child will be bringing home information about the latest Young Writers Competition.

This is a fantastic opportunity for children to showcase their creativity, have fun with their writing, and even have the chance to see their work published! πŸ“šβœ¨

The official competition deadline is 24th July. However, to allow enough time for entries to be collected, checked, and posted, we kindly ask that all completed entries are returned to Mrs Kaur by 15th July. If you would prefer to post your child's entry yourself, that is absolutely fine too.

Please ensure your child's name and class are clearly written on their entry before it is returned.

We look forward to reading the children's wonderful ideas and imaginative writing!

πŸ”πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ Year 1 Hook Day – Codebreakers! πŸ•΅οΈβ€β™€οΈπŸ”

Today, Year 1 launched their exciting new topic, Codebreakers, with a fantastic Hook Day full of mystery, problem-solving and fun!

The children learned all about Bletchley Park and the important role it played during World War II. They discovered how secret messages were used and why codebreakers were needed to help keep information safe.

Our young codebreakers had a go at writing and decoding their own secret messages, which they will be bringing home to share with you. They also designed and made their own communication devices to send messages to one another, showing great creativity and teamwork.

We had a brilliant day stepping into the shoes of real codebreakers and can't wait to learn more throughout this topic. Be sure to check your child's bag and ask them to show you some of the exciting things they created today!

Yesterday we were delighted to welcome the Year 1 parents and carers into school for our Parent Pop-In session. It was wonderful to open our classroom doors and give families the opportunity to see how their children are getting on and celebrate the fantastic learning taking place.

Parents joined their children for some morning work and it was lovely to see everyone learning together, sharing smiles and enjoying time in the classroom. The children were so excited and proud to show their grown-ups what they have been doing at school!

Thank you to everyone who came along and supported the session – we always value opportunities to strengthen our partnership between home and school. 🌟
