Delighted to reveal these beautiful works of art by .evans.illustrator 😍😮 Yes, it really is like this here!

1. Up-river cross section. An underwater interpretation of the Milford Haven waterway from Benton Castle across to Lawrenny, showing seabed topography and local marine life.
2. Down-river cross section. An underwater interpretation of the Milford Haven waterway from Castlebeach Bay across to West Angle.
These will be used to raise awareness and for educational purposes.

This was produced as part of the Partnership Delivery of MPA Improvements in Wales project. It was funded by the Nature Networks Fund, a programme delivered by the Heritage Fund on behalf of the Welsh Government.

2. Trawstoriad i lawr yr afon. Dehongliad tanddwr o ddyfrffordd Aberdaugleddau o Fae Castlebeach ar draws i Orllewin Angle.
Bydd y rhain yn cael eu defnyddio i godi ymwybyddiaeth ac at ddibenion addysgol.

🌊 World Oceans Day Spotlight: Pink Sea Fan
Delicate, colourful, and surprisingly long-lived… the Pink Sea Fan is one of Wales’ most special underwater species 💗Did you know:

✨ The biggest sea fan on record is over 100 years old. It measures at 50cm tall and a metre wide
✨ A coral polyp with 8 tentacles is called an octoral, “octo” meaning 8
✨ North Pembrokeshire is the northern most point this species grows in Wales
✨ These corals grow extremely slowly – some have been monitored for 30+ years at Skomer
✨ When feeding, they look fluffy… and more stick-like when resting
✨ Despite the name, this species can also be orange and even white in colour

These fragile corals are a reminder of just how unique—and vulnerable—our seas are.

Small but mighty, native oysters are true ecosystem heroes 🦪💙

💧 A single oyster can filter up to 200 litres of water every day
🏠 They form oyster reefs, creating homes for lots of other marine life
🔄 Oysters are molluscs and can change s*x multiple times even within the same year
✨ Despite how they’re often depicted, Wales’ native oysters rarely produce pearls

By restoring oyster populations, we’re helping whole ecosystems thrive 🌊
