Proposed Traveller Site -

Residents may be aware of a recent media article which appeared to indicate that DDDC are seeking to propose the Middleton site as a permanent solution to the Traveller Site requirement. The Parish Council sought urgent clarification from DDDC on this matter.
A statement was received from DDDC as follows -

"The media report is inaccurate – there are no proposals to consider Middleton (or Matlock Bath) as permanent Traveller sites."

DDDC have contacted the reporter in question, asking that he urgently amend the article.

The Parish Council hopes this provides some reassurance to residents about this matter.

The Parish Council has been informed by the owner of the Congregational Chapel that due to unavailability of adequate insurance coverage whilst the building is unoccupied, he is intending to close the church and graveyard with immediate effect, for an indefinite period.

We are disappointed and saddened by this news and understand this will cause concern and distress within the community. We intend to keep in contact with the owner and investigate any possible options to seek to ensure access can be returned for families and friends to visit the churchyard as soon as possible.

We will respond to the owner to highlight the impact this closure will have on the community, and we will share any further information as and when we are made aware of it.

If you have any comments or would like to discuss further, please contact the Parish Clerk on [email protected]

The Parish Council has extended the deadline for the Community Survey. We feel it is important to ensure as many people as possible within the community have the opportunity to respond. If you haven't done so already, please do take a moment to complete the short survey at the link below - this will assist the council in making plans for the future and ensuring resident's views are heard and considered.
