๐ป๐ฒ Get Online Week event at Hemlington
๐ฌ We had a packed audience yesterday at Hemlington Community Hub and Library for Day 4 of our Get Online Week celebrations.
As part of the national campaign to tackle digital exclusion, the annual celebration showcases the wide range of digital opportunities available to residents, including free access to computers, WiFi, online resources and personalised support from library staff and the Digital Inclusion Team.
A key feature of this year's programme is the promotion of BFI Replay, a unique digital archive that allows library users to explore thousands of hours of television and radio broadcasts from across the UK free of charge at Middlesbrough Libraries. The service provides access to decades of news, entertainment, sport and cultural programming, helping residents discover and explore the nation's audio visual heritage.
With thanks to staff from the local Middlesbrough branch of Lloyds Bank and PCSO Peter Johnson from Cleveland Police, the session provided practical advice on staying safe online, recognising scams and phishing attempts, protecting personal information, managing passwords securely, and using online banking services with confidence.
David Harrington, Digital Lead for Middlesbrough Libraries said "We are committed to reducing digital exclusion and ensuring all residents can benefit from the opportunities that technology provides. Through free access to computers, internet connectivity, digital resources and learning opportunities at Central Library plus the Community Hubs and Libraries we support communities to become more confident online."
Our final Get Online Week event will be held this morning at Central Library (10am-12pm). Middlesbrough Libraries would like to thank all of the staff from the Middlesbrough Branch of Lloyds Bank for supporting the events along with Cleveland Police.
