Civil Aviation Authority - Consumer Travel Advice - Summer 2026

You may have seen reports about possible disruption to flights this summer.

As the summer travel season approaches, airlines, government and industry partners are working closely to support smooth journeys. Postcode lottery scams
Fraudsters are impersonating the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Reports claim scammers are contacting people via phone calls and fake social media accounts to promote sham version's of the Lottery.

Which? has previously reported on scam emails and letters impersonating the organisation.

You can only win the People’s Postcode Lottery if you sign up, after which you're entered into prize draws every month. The official website is www.postcodelottery.co.uk

You can report scam accounts on social media by selecting the three dots in the top right corner and pressing 'Report.'

Scam calls can be reported by texting the word ‘call’ followed by the phone number to 7726 on an iPhone. If you have an Android phone, text the word ‘call’ to 7726. You’ll then receive a message asking you for the scam number.

Hazard
The products present a risk of fire as the internal wiring is not securely attached. This could lead to wires loosening during use. Loose wiring may cause the product to short-circuit, overheat and catch fire.

The product does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.

Corrective action
The product has been recalled from end users by TJX UK (TK Maxx). Owners are advised to stop using the product immediately and return it to their nearest TK Maxx store for a refund or replacement.

An email which claims to be from BT says you can claim a discount on a Wi-Fi booster.

This link will take you to a phishing website which will steal your information as you enter it in.

Emails can be reported by forwarding them to [email protected] and websites to the National Cyber Security Centre.

The product presents a risk of injuries because the indicator, which shows whether the seat is correctly fitted, may display ‘green’ even when the car seat is not fully attached to the base. As a result, a user may believe the seat is properly connected when it is not. This could cause the seat to move or detach, potentially injuring the occupant.

📢 Scam Awareness Post – Online Sales 📢

We have recently received a complaint relating to the sale of a bottle of perfume which was sold via eBay. The buyer reported that the item arrived damaged and provided photographic evidence to support their claim.

Upon review by the seller, there are concerns that the images submitted may not accurately reflect the condition of the item and could potentially be AI-generated or otherwise manipulated.

We would like to remind both buyers and sellers to:

• Ensure that all evidence submitted in disputes is genuine and accurately represents the item

• Keep detailed records of listings, packaging, and postage

• Report any concerns of fraudulent or misleading behaviour to the relevant platform.

If you have experienced similar issues or require advice, then please contact Citizens Advice Consumer Service. You can also report the matter to Report Fraud the UK's national reporting centre for fraud.

*SCAM ALERT - DVLA impersonation email*

A phishing email claiming to be from the DVLA tells you that some of the information on your driving licence is out of date.

It also says that you could be fined up to £1000 if your licence isn't up to date and provides a link to follow to update your name, date of birth, full address and payment details.

This information will be gathered by scammers to scam you either immediately or in the future.
