📅 Do you provide visitor accommodation in Cardiff?

Cardiff Council is introducing a Visitor Levy on overnight stays from 1 April 2027, and the Welsh Revenue Authority will collect the levy on their behalf.

If you provide visitor accommodation in Cardiff, there are some steps you'll need to take by 28 September 2026 to get ready before the levy goes live.

📍 Help us test Wales' new visitor accommodation registration service

A new law coming into force in autumn 2026 means anyone who provides visitor accommodation in Wales will need to register with the Welsh Revenue Authority (WRA).

🏕️️🛏 We're inviting around 100 accommodation providers to test an early version of the service before it’s available to everyone. This will help us make sure the process is as simple as possible.

Cardiff Council has announced it will introduce a Visitor Levy on overnight stays in Cardiff from 1 April 2027.

The Welsh Revenue Authority will collect the levy on Cardiff Council's behalf, and we're committed to making that process as straightforward as possible.

From 28 September 2026, if you provide visitor accommodation in Cardiff, you'll need to apply Visitor Levy to:
• new bookings
• changes to existing bookings
for overnight stays from 1 April 2027.
