PCSO's Tony and Barry carried out a community contact point at Bournemouth University Campus today. It was wonderful to speak to many of the students and listen to their concerns and answer questions they had in relation to policing in the local area. We have also been carrying out high vis patrols in our ASB hotspots.

Great to see PCSO Harold from Bournemouth Campus Police attending today’s meeting with the university community
It was a really productive session, with plenty of engaging questions raised to the Crime Commissioner about student safety and future plans. Lots of interesting developments are on the horizon, all focused on keeping students safe while enjoying their university journey.
We’re committed to working together to make the campus a secure and welcoming place for everyone 💙

PCSO Harold and Tony attended The Gateway building, where we engaged with Justine, the Sport Liaison Officer for the university. It was a really positive visit, giving us the opportunity to speak with staff and students about community safety.

Part of our conversation focused on electric scooters , particularly clarifying the law around privately owned e-scooters. We highlighted that privately owned e-scooters are currently not legal for use on public roads, pavements, or cycle lanes, and can only be used on private land with the landowner’s permission. Using them illegally can result in fines, penalty points, and seizure of the scooter.

It’s important that students understand the regulations to avoid unintended offences and help keep everyone safe.

Thank you to Justine and the team for taking the time to engage with us today.
