🏠 DID YOU KNOW?

As a tenant, you’re responsible for looking after your home, and in some circumstances, you may be charged for repairs or work that isn’t caused by normal wear and tear.

💷 You may be recharged if:
🔨 Damage to your home, fixtures or fittings has been caused by you, someone in your household or a visitor
🛠️ Alterations or improvements have been made without getting permission first
🏡 Work carried out without permission needs to be removed or the property returned to its original condition

Thinking about making a change to your home? Check with us first.

Even if it seems like a small improvement, you may need permission before starting work.

Getting permission beforehand can save you from unexpected costs or having to put things back later.

💡 Remember: ask first, alter second!

🏆 A proud moment for Melton Borough Council Housing Services!

Receiving the highest possible rating is a testament to the partnership between our residents, tenant representatives and colleagues. Together, we're continuing to improve services and make a positive difference for our communities.

Thank you for being part of the journey. 👏

We have been awarded the highest possible rating for our Housing and Landlord Services.

The achievement reflects the hard work of colleagues, councillors, tenant representatives and volunteers, whose feedback and involvement have helped shape improvements across our housing services. From strengthening tenant engagement and improving transparency, to enhancing anti-social behaviour case management and using better insight to support residents, we remain committed to continuous improvement.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in helping us achieve this important milestone and deliver the best possible outcomes for our tenants.

🚬 Stub it out, Dispose of it safely🔋

Did you know that incorrectly disposing of ci******es and vapes can cause serious fires?

A few simple steps can help keep our homes and communities safe:

🚬 Ci******es
• Make sure ci******es are completely extinguished before disposing of them
• Use a proper, stable ashtray on a fire-resistant surface
• Never throw cigarette ends on the ground or dispose of them while they’re still hot

💨 Vapes & e-ci******es
• Never put vapes or their batteries in your general waste or recycling bin
• Vapes contain lithium-ion batteries which can catch fire if damaged or crushed
• Take unwanted vapes and batteries to an appropriate electrical or battery recycling point instead

🔥 Small item, Big fire risk. Dispose of it safely.
