Volunteer Centre Borders

Volunteer Centre Borders Our aim is to recruit volunteers, and to place them with organisations who need their help

Our Volunteer Centre looks for suitable volunteering opportunities for people who want to become involved in their community. We also make sure that organisations and projects who take on volunteers are well run and able to offer a safe place for volunteering, where everyone can benefit from efficient and well run organisations.

On 1st April 2023 Volunteer Centre Borders became part of a new, single organisation, Borders Community Action.
Borders Community Action is one of a network of 32 Third Sector Interfaces (TSIs) operating in Scotland, with one for each local authority area. Formed by the Scottish Government, TSIs aid the development of voluntary and community organisations, social enterprises and volunteering.

Our friends at are in the news! Did you know it would only take 28 new adult volunteers to accept in order to reduce the 160 young people on the waiting list to 0! That's totally doable and possible with the help of communities across the Borders. Scouts is uplifting, rewarding and fun. And no previous Scouting experience is required we are pleased to tell you. Interested? Go to https://www.borderscouts.org.uk/ and get in touch with the team for an informal chat about flexible volunteering. Thanks.

Suzanne Rennie is organising a tidy up of Slitrig Crescent gardens, on Sunday 12th March 10am -12 noon. The gardens are looking very tired and unkempt, and following the initial tidy , is hoped some volunteers will also help to maintain the area.
