I'm so sorry to say that I (Michelle) will no longer be rehabilitating hedgehogs. I also help with a rescue that cares for small animals and there's been a few of late needing help so for now I have stopped taking in hedgehogs but here to give advice. I also met some wonderful rehabilitators that I can put you in touch with if needed. Ended the season after the last of the juveniles that came in at around 2 weeks old went to their soft release sites. A total of 6 2 week old came in 5 made it back out and 1 4+ week old. Just wish I had more space ant time in the day to do both small animal foster and hedgehog rehabilitation

These 2 came in 10 and 11 days ago. The little girl was found at the side of the road. She came in first and did well at first the next day she started to go down hill. The little fella was found wandering in a garden. After he was assessed to make sure he was well he was introduced to her and she perked up instantly. They were about 2-3 weeks old. Hoglets often don't do well at that age alone. Every day I go to clean out they a cuddled up in their den together ❤️

Birds and Cats!!!
A bird does not have to have visible cuts or bleeding to be at risk after being caught in a cat’s mouth.
Cats carry bacteria in their mouths, especially Pasteurella multocida, and even a tiny puncture wound that you can’t see can introduce bacteria under the skin. Birds have very thin skin, so these punctures can be almost invisible. Without treatment, a bacterial infection can develop very quickly—sometimes within 12–24 hours—and can be fatal.

If a cat has:

* Held the bird in its mouth,
* Grabbed it with its teeth,
* Or even if you strongly suspect saliva has contacted the bird after a bite,

then the safest approach is to assume the bird needs urgent assessment by a wildlife rehabilitator or a vet. Many rehabilitators will start antibiotics as soon as possible because early treatment gives the bird the best chance.

This wee one was found with sibling (unfortunately sibling didn't make it). Both starved taken in by lovely people until Michelle could get to them. Both skin and bones one worse than the other. With a lot of hard work and patience we have had a break threw a week later and Microw took to us being mum and now going in the right direction still a long way to go but positive milestone in the last day
