The Tower Project is an exciting initiative to preserve and restore the Church Tower at St. Mary’s which is one of our community’s most historic and recognisable landmarks.

Following last year’s Annual Parish meeting, where attendees heard that the tower had been placed on the Historic England Heritage at Risk Register, volunteers have spent the past year researching restoration projects at other churches, meeting with architects and stonemasons, and learning more about the restoration process and the role of the St Albans Diocese.

A church-approved architect has been appointed, who is preparing a programme of works and obtaining quotations for the next stages of the project. Preparations are also underway to clear and organise the inside of the tower ahead of restoration work.

As the project moves into the community launch phase, residents are invited to come along to two identical information sessions at Marston Moreteyne Community Centre, Great Linns, MK43 0DD:

Monday 15th June (7–8pm)
Saturday 20th June (11am–12pm)

These sessions will explore how we can work together to care for this remarkable building, share ideas for its future use, and encourage volunteers to support areas such as fundraising, social media, website development, National Lottery funding bids, and the creation of a Friends of The Tower group.

If you have some spare time, an interest in history and restoration, have any skills that may be of benefit to the project and lots of enthusiasm we'd love to see you there!

Free parenting app now available for parents of young children in Central Bedfordshire.

As part of our commitment to supporting local families during the early stages of a child’s development, we have commissioned the EasyPeasy app.

The app is now available to parents, carers and early years practitioners across Central Bedfordshire, helping families with children aged 0 to 5 turn everyday parenting moments into playful learning opportunities.
