Due to essential building maintenance, Marlborough Library will be closed from Monday 28 September to Saturday 17 October 2026. It will reopen on Monday 19 October.

Any items due for return to Marlborough Library during the closure will have their due dates extended. The letterbox will be available for book returns throughout the closure.

An order and collect service will be offered during the closure.

A talk by the author of a groundbreaking study (featured on the BBC’s ‘Digging for Britain’) looks at what the archaeology of horses shows us about the development of the armoured mounted knight in the Middle Ages.

And we're off...! Our Adult Reading Challenge starts today. Make sure you've collected your bookmark (available from Any Wiltshire library).

Whether you're a lifelong bookworm, a lapsed reader or someone who just wants some reading inspiration, this is the challenge for you.

Did you know that reading for just 5 minutes per day can reduce stress and improve concentration levels? And your reading over the next couple of months could result in prizes! 🏅 🏆 📚

Wiltshire Libraries welcomed 6050 children to the , enjoying the rhythm of this summer.

If your child is aged 4-11 and has signed up online, don't forget they can also pop into their local library to register and collect free stickers and rewards as they complete their reading journey.

⏰ There's still time! The Challenge runs until this Saturday 5 September, so children can continue collecting their stickers and earn their final rewards, including certificate and medal. Are you 16+ and up for a Challenge? All you need to do is pick up your free Reading Challenge bookmark and read 3 books. Every book you read earns a stamp. Once you’ve earned 3 stamps, hand your bookmark back to any Wiltshire library to be entered into the prize draw.

🏆 First prize: 1x £50 book voucher
🏅 Two runner up prizes: 1x £25 book voucher each

The Challenge runs between 5 September to 5 December 2026. Books, eBooks and audio/eAudiobooks all count. Get reading to be in with your chance of winning!
