This week is your last chance to have your say on the future of policing in Wiltshire and Swindon 🚨

Government proposals could see police forces merged into larger regional organisations and Police and Crime Commissioners abolished from 2028.

So far:
- 74% of respondents believe a larger regional force would mean worse local knowledge of communities and local issues
- 61% think it could improve access to specialist policing capabilities
- 64% do not support Wiltshire Police being merged into a larger regional force

Philip Wilkinson: PCC Wiltshire and Swindon wants to ensure local voices are heard before any decisions are made.

Recent press reports that local businessman and philanthropist Chris Rokos is relocating to Greece have been met with dismay and concern from local Conservatives near his Wiltshire home.

Jonny Gray, Chair of EWCA, said today: “Chris Rokos has not only overseen one of the most ambitious and important restoration projects this country has ever seen – a project that provided hundreds of jobs to local residents and supported many local businesses – but he has also been a very generous local philanthropist, supporting many charities and causes in Wiltshire. Reports of his move to Greece are deeply saddening for this area, where he is a popular landlord and has demonstrated a passion for conservation and wildlife protection.

“But sadly, this Labour government is making the UK a deeply inhospitable place for ambitious entrepreneurs to thrive. Every day we are seeing our best and brightest citizens choose to leave this country and move to one that supports growth and rewards success. Their departure is our loss as the jobs and opportunities they provide to others go with them.

“Only a Conservative government can be trusted to bring back a growth agenda that supports businesses to create jobs. EWCA are shortly commencing our parliamentary candidate selection process, and we will ensure that our new candidate will support this agenda and hope that individuals like Mr Rokos will be tempted to return to these shores under a future Conservative government, led by Kemi Badenoch.”
