Have your say on school term times.

Option 1: Keep things as they are.

Option 2: children go back to school Mid August and have a two week half term break in October.

Last night, the Planning Committee approved an application for 135 homes to be built on land off Launde Road and Ratby Lane.

I am extremely disappointed by this decision.

Throughout this process, I have listened to residents and raised concerns about the impact this development will have on our community. These concerns include increased traffic on already busy roads, additional pressure on schools and GP surgeries, and the loss of valuable green space and local wildlife habitats.

While I recognise the need for new housing, I do not believe this is the right location for a development of this scale.

I want to thank everyone who took the time to submit comments, attend meetings, and make their voices heard. Although the application has now been approved, I will continue to work hard on behalf of residents and hold developers and decision-makers to account to ensure our community's interests are protected.

I remain committed to standing up for our area and fighting for the infrastructure and services our residents deserve.

Update for Markfield Residents – Cliffe Hill Farm (Caddick Application 25/00931/FUL)

I wanted to let residents know about some upcoming activity at the Cliffe Hill Farm site.
From 15th June, there will be archaeological trial trenching taking place on the land. These works are expected to last around 3–4 weeks.

What does this mean?

This is not the start of development. These investigations are being carried out as part of the planning application process, at the request of the planning authority and Leicestershire County Council’s Historic & Natural Environment Team. The aim is to better understand any archaeological features on the site before any decisions are made.

What to expect

You may see machinery on site and the excavation of trenches. While this can look significant, it is a standard and temporary process carried out during planning assessments.

Key reassurance

This is exploratory work only
It does not mean the application has been approved
No development is commencing at this stage

I appreciate that activity like this can raise concerns, so I wanted to share this information early to keep everyone informed.
If you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch.
