👉We will raise a flag on our council offices on Monday 22 June 2026 to show the district’s gratitude to the Armed Forces community.

Chairman of the council, Cllr Buddy Anderson, and other invited guests including veterans and representatives from service organisations, will attend a short ceremony in Church Square, Market Harborough, before the Armed Forces Day flag is raised on The Symington Building.

The occasion will mark the build-up to Armed Forces Day, which will take place on Saturday 27 June 2026.

Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for the nation to show its support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving personnel to Service families, veterans and cadets.

It also marks the culmination of a week of celebrations, beginning on Monday 22 June, when the public show their support and appreciation for the Armed Forces community.

The flag will fly from the building all week up until and including Armed Forces Day.

Everyone is welcome to attend the flag raising ceremony. Please arrive by 10.20am, ready for the ceremony at 10.30am.

💚Today, 18 June, marks Clean Air Day.

👉Can you support Clean Air Day by switching off your engine during school drop off and pick up times. This small action makes a big difference to the air our children breathe every day. Together, we can help create a cleaner, safer and healthier environment for our school and local community.

We’re inviting our school community to help keep the air around us clean and healthy. When a car engine is left running while not moving, known as idling it releases harmful fumes into the air. These fumes can make it harder for people to breathe and can even affect how well children concentrate. By simply switching off the engine when waiting, families can help make the air cleaner and fresher for everyone.

Turning off the engine also helps save fuel and reduces wear and tear on the car. Modern cars use more fuel when idling for more than ten seconds than they do when restarting, and idling can cause extra damage to the engine and exhaust system. So choosing not to idle is good for the environment and for your car.

👉Market Harborough residents – it’s your final chance to have a say on what a new parish council for Market Harborough could look like!

📝Our community governance review has so far included a consultation and a local poll for registered electors within the town.

👍The response shows most people are in favour of creating a new council.

🔊Now, before a final decision is made, we’re consulting you again on technical matters, such as how many councillors it should have and how the council should be split up into areas (wards) which councillors are elected to represent.

💬We want to hear your views so have your say at: https://ow.ly/LJMb50Zc8LV
