It is with sadness we are sharing the announcement we are closing the chatty cafe with immediate affect 😢

The Chatty Cafe was set up in 2023 in response to issues with isolation and loneliness in the community, which was well used and had up to 30 visitors in the summer.

We worked with partners like West Notts College, Citizens’s advice, Barclays, Dunromin on the hill Therapy Dogs, Amazon and more to provide activities and support for service users which we’re very grateful for!

Recently there has been so many amazing services and support groups set up in the local community that are open at the same time, and we have had quite low attendance compared to previous years.

There are no hard feelings as we operate in response to community need, therefore we are making plans to open an over 16’s youth cafe which has been raised in development workshops as an area of need.

More information will be available in a few weeks time about this 😊

Thank you to everyone who has been with us on our chatty cafe journey! ☕️

What does a day in the life of a Children’s Worker really look like?...

Puppets. Lego. Colouring. Games. Emotion cards. Sometimes, simply sitting and listening.

They might look like everyday activities but for a child who has experienced domestic abuse, they can provide a safe way to explore some very difficult feelings and experiences.

Our Children’s Workers support children and young people to understand their emotions, talk about worries, recognise healthy relationships and, importantly, understand thatwhat has happened is never their fault.

Progress doesn’t always look like a huge breakthrough.

Sometimes it’s a child naming an emotion for the first time.
Sometimes it’s recognising behaviour that isn’t OK.
Sometimes it’s knowing who they can turn to when they feel unsafe.
And sometimes, it’s simply arriving quietly and leaving with a smile.

Take a glimpse into 'a day in the life of one of our Children’s Workers' and discover the incredible work that goes on behind the scenes at BWP.
