| Neighbourhood officers have dismantled two cannabis farms after acting on community intelligence, as part of Neighbourhood policing week of action.

Warrants executed on Burnage Lane and Brynton Road in Manchester at around 6pm this evening (Tuesday 16 June 2026) uncovered around 250 cannabis plants across both properties.
There is a scene in place as officers dismantle the equipment found in the property.

These results highlight our continued focus on keeping communities safe and tackling the wider criminality linked to drug dealing.

Chief Inspector Richard Flanagan from City of Manchester South neighbourhood team said: "This work is part of our neighbourhood policing week of action, targeting the issues that matter most to our communities. Information from residents is vital and helps us take action against criminality affecting local people to ensure we keep them safe where they live and work."

If you have concerns about drug activity in your area, please report it to us via the LiveChat function on our website or by calling 101. You can also report anonymously via Crimestoppers.

| A man has been arrested as part of an investigation into suspicious items found in Fallowfield.

At around 4:15pm on Tuesday 9 June, officers attended an address at Edward Sutcliffe Close, Fallowfield, as part of an ongoing investigation into suspicious items which had been discarded at Abram Close on Saturday 6 June.

During a search of the property, additional items of concern were located. As a precaution, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) attended the scene and nearby properties were evacuated.

Residents have since been able to return to their homes.

The man remains in police custody for questioning and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector Claire Brennan, from our Major Investigation Team, said: “These incidents are currently being treated as isolated. We do not believe there is a wider threat to the community and would like to thank residents for their patience and support”

“There will be continued police activity at the address as enquiries remain ongoing, and we encourage anyone with information to speak to officers at the scene.

“We will have an enhanced neighbouring patrol within the area over the next few days to provide reassurance.”
