To wrap up , here are some more of the very special people who make RHS Garden Bridgewater such a welcoming and uplifting place 💚

Over the past five years, our volunteers have found so much more than time in the garden, from the calming benefits of being outdoors to building friendships, learning new skills and discovering a real sense of belonging. It’s these shared experiences that keep our community growing, year after year.

🍃 Ian “I really enjoy my time in the gardens, it is really beneficial for my physical health and the outdoors is calming. I have previously worked in another team, and I feel proud to be part of such a welcoming culture.”

🌺 Liz “I started to volunteer in the Paradise Gardens when I retired and I am so glad I did. It is a perfect opportunity to connect with others who love gardening and also to view this beautiful garden in all its seasons. I learn something new very week from my fellow volunteers, our horticulturists and/or the general public. There is a reason I'm still here after 5 years; I enjoy it!”

Thank you to every one of our volunteers for the time, care and positivity you bring. You make RHS Garden Bridgewater what it is. 🌿

This June, community gardening groups across the country are coming together to celebrate Great Big Green Week (6–14 June) – a national moment for community action on climate.

At RHS Garden Bridgewater, we’re pleased to be taking part. On Wednesday 10 June, our RHS Communities team will be on hand to share practical advice on gardening sustainably in a changing climate.
Whether you’re part of a community garden, thinking about getting involved, or growing in your own space – from a garden to a balcony or even a windowsill – we’re here to help you grow in ways that are both sustainable and affordable.

We’d love you to join us. Look out for the Great Big Green Week bunting when you arrive.

A gentle stroll through RHS Garden Bridgewater brings movement and time in nature, and with world-class artwork from Yan Wang Preston, Fiona Robinson, Liz Lock and Anoosh Ariamehr in the OFFSHOOT exhibition in the garden, a chance to engage with art too.

Recent research suggests that engaging with arts and culture may be as important as exercise in slowing the ageing process, with activities like visiting exhibitions offering physical, cognitive, emotional and social stimulation.*

In fact, taking part in arts activities at least once a week has been linked to ageing up to 4% more slowly, a rate comparable to the benefits of regular exercise.*

So, a visit to RHS Bridgewater brings it all together - gentle exercise, wellbeing boosts and moments of culture, side by side 🌸

*Enjoying the arts may slow ageing, new research finds | The Independent

The OFFSHOOT Artist in Residence programme is a collaboration between the University of Salford Art Collection, the RHS Garden Bridgewater and the Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool and is generously supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

This weekend, the RHS Garden Bridgewater team will be heading to MediaCity for 🌿

is a brilliant celebration of how we spend our free time – and naturally, gardening has a part to play!

There’s a fantastic programme of FREE, drop-in activities happening across the weekend. Jason Williams () will be sharing his expertise with balcony gardening basics, as well as hosting a seed swap.

Our Garden Advice team will also be on hand with a dedicated helpdesk – so do come along and put their knowledge to the test!
We’re also delighted that keen gardener and BBC Great British Sewing Bee favourite Patrick Grant () will be joining the panel for a ‘Your Gardeners’ Questions’ session.

Festival-goers can explore plenty of ways to Bring Nature Home, with ideas for making the most of green spaces in urban environments – including a hidden nature tour led by one of our volunteers.

Alongside gardening, there’s so much to discover, from sports and talks to musical theatre, dance, art, clubbing, party boats and street food. With over 200 FREE activities, there really is something for everyone.

This , we’re celebrating the incredible people who have helped shape RHS Garden Bridgewater from the very beginning 💚
From opening day to today, five years on, our volunteers have been at the heart of everything we do, bringing passion, pride and dedication to every part of the garden and helping it grow into the special place it is today.

🌸 Rachel "As a gardener, I couldn't wait to visit Bridgewater when it first opened and it was so lovely, I decided there and then that I wanted to be involved. I got my volunteering role a few months later and ever since, I've loved being part of the team at the garden and being in such a beautiful place. I work in Education now and really enjoy helping our visiting school children enjoy their day with us. It's different every day and really good fun."

🌱 Veronica "I feel really proud to have played a little part in the development of this wonderful garden, and I enjoy every aspect of the work, from chatting with visitors on a sunny day to digging up weeds in the winter mud!"

🌼 Columb "Retirement from a career in finance coincided with the opening of RHS Garden Bridgewater. Looking for a fulfilling part time role I joined Visitor Services as a volunteer. Working within the team I have enjoyed being involved with a committed and enthusiastic group of people. It has been a joy welcoming thousands of guests to our new, developing and evolving attraction. All this has given me a positive work life balance and helped my wellbeing."

Thank you for five amazing years of dedication, passion and care 🌿
