🌱 Looking for fresh inspiration for your garden?

Join us at Flavours of Autumn this weekend (12 & 13 September) for talks, demonstrations and hands-on activities exploring how to grow more of your own food.

Discover edible mushroom cultivation with Myco Manchester, hear Mike Hudson from Manchester Urban Diggers discuss building a fairer food system, and learn from award-winning garden designer and author Jack Wallington as he shares how perennial edible plants can create beautiful, productive gardens with less effort.

Families can also get involved with our seed-sowing sessions led by RHS volunteers in the New Shoots Garden.

On Thursday, eight mature trees were carefully craned into place in the new Yangzhou Scholars' Garden, marking a major milestone ahead of its opening on 26 September.

Among them were a magnificent Niwaki-pruned Pinus parviflora that will form a striking focal point, elegant specimens of Acer palmatum 'Emerald Lace', Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood' and Acer japonicum 'Aconitifolium', alongside a Pomegranate, a traditional feature of classical Chinese gardens.

The two-hour operation was the latest stage in an extraordinary project that has seen over eight years of planning and collaboration, and months of dedicated work on site. Watching each tree expertly guided into place felt really special as the Yangzhou Scholars' Garden moves one step closer to opening.

We can't wait to welcome you from 26 September. 🌳✨

🌳 A new NHS Wellbeing Garden is coming to Royal Oldham Hospital.

The RHS is proud to be supporting the creation of a new wellbeing garden that will transform a much-loved fountain garden into a welcoming space for NHS staff, patients and the wider community.

Designed to encourage relaxation and connection with nature, the garden will include new trees for shade, wildlife-friendly planting, accessible pathways and beautiful seating areas.

Projects like this demonstrate the positive impact gardens can haveβ€”not only for biodiversity, but for people's physical and mental wellbeing.

🍻 From garden to glass!

We're delighted to have partnered with the University of Salford's Lark Hill Brewery to create two exclusive new beers using ingredients grown right here at RHS Garden Bridgewater.

The collaboration began with a tour of our Kitchen Garden, where Lark Hill's Head Brewer, Jack Dixon, worked alongside RHS Bridgewater Head Chef Matthew Taylor and the garden team to explore which seasonal ingredients would offer the best flavour, availability and character.

Together, they selected rhubarb from our National Collection (which holds over 100 varieties) and fragrant lemon verbena, carefully chosen for their distinctive taste and ability to capture the essence of summer. These garden-grown ingredients were then transformed into two refreshing light brews: Rambling Harvest Splendour, a Rhubarb & Hibiscus Sour, and Close to a Lemon, a Lemon Verbena Pale Ale.

At RHS Bridgewater, we're passionate about finding creative ways to showcase the incredible produce grown in our gardens, and this partnership demonstrates how horticulture, food and drink can come together to create something truly unique.

Available exclusively now at RHS Bridgewater Café and The Old Fire Station café & bar. Cheers to growing, brewing and collaborating together! 🌱🍺
