Community Engagement in Harpurhey Precinct

As part of my development as a Student Police Officer, I recently spent time in Harpurhey Precinct with colleagues, gaining a greater understanding of some of the local issues affecting the community.
During the visit, we met with the security team at the precinct and discussed the strong partnership working that takes place between police, security staff, Manchester City Council and other agencies to tackle issues such as homelessness, begging and shoplifting.

We also looked at the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) signage installed around the precinct and discussed how these measures help to address anti-social behaviour and improve the environment for local residents, businesses and visitors.
A key part of the day involved speaking directly with individuals experiencing homelessness and those who were begging in the area. We took the opportunity to engage with them, understand their circumstances and offer information about the support services that are available.
Community engagement is an important part of neighbourhood policing, and it was valuable to see firsthand the collaborative work being carried out to support vulnerable people while helping to keep Harpurhey Precinct a safe and welcoming place for everyone.

Despite the wind and rain brought by Storm Boelo, officers were out across the transport network conducting Project Servator patrols.

Multiple stop searches were carried out, resulting in the arrest of two persons for possession of bladed articles and possession with intent to supply a controlled substance.

Project Servator deployments help disrupt criminality and provide reassurance to the public through a visible Police presence. We could be on your next journey... AM or PM we are out looking for those who look to harm our community.

| Carl Hardy (2/3/2007) of Shaldon Drive, Manchester, has been charged with attempted murder and murder.

Tony Evans (1/3/2007) of Dorking Avenue, Manchester, has been charged with attempted murder and murder.

Both men have been remanded to custody and will appear at Manchester City Magistrates’ Court on 23 October 2026.

These charges relate to an incident on Dorking Avenue on 15 October 2026.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or has mobile phone, CCTV, or doorbell footage, should call us on 0161 856 5464 or contact us via our Major Incident Public Portal

Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

| Two men have been charged following the death of Alisha Samuels.

Carl Hardy (2/3/2007) of Shaldon Drive, Manchester, has been charged with attempted murder and murder.

Tony Evans (1/3/2007) of Dorking Avenue, Manchester, has been charged with attempted murder and murder.

| As our investigation into the tragic death of Alisha Samuels continues, detectives from the Major Incident Team, supported by fi****ms officers from Specialist Operations and officers from the Force Critical Wanted Unit, have located and arrested three further individuals believed to be connected to her death.

Two 19-year-old men have been arrested on suspicion of murder, and a 48-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All three remain in police custody for questioning.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has mobile phone, CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage, is asked to contact police on 0161 856 5464 or submit information via the Major Incident Public Portal.

Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police and Community Together (PACT) Meeting – Have Your Say

Local residents are invited to attend the next Police and Community Together (PACT) Meeting on Thursday 29 October 2026, from 6pm to 8pm, at Wellspring Pentecostal Church, 35 Brendan Avenue, Manchester, M40 9DN.
PACT meetings are an opportunity for residents to speak directly with their local Neighbourhood Policing Team and partner agencies about issues affecting the community, raise concerns, and discuss what matters most in their area.

New meeting format
To make it easier for residents to access the right support and advice, the format of the meeting has changed. Representatives from different agencies will be seated at dedicated tables around the venue. When you arrive, a member of staff will ask which agency or issue you would like to discuss and will direct you to the most appropriate table. This will allow you to have more focused conversations with the services best placed to help with your concerns.
Whether you have questions about policing, housing, community safety, environmental issues, health services, or other local matters, we encourage you to come along and speak with the relevant agency.

We look forward to meeting residents from Harpurhey, Moston, New Moston, Charlestown, Blackley, Collyhurst and Monsall and working together to address local concerns and improve our communities.

Yesterday evening, officers engaged in deployments across Salford and North Manchester were approached by a member of the public who raised concerns about a suspicious vehicle. Officers conducted an area search and found the vehicle left in a dangerous position. It was subsequently seized to prevent any risk to other road users and members of the public.

We'd like to thank the individual who took the time to speak with us. Information from our communities plays a vital role in helping us keep people safe.

Members of the public like this are our extra eyes 👀 and ears 👂 in the community. If you see something that doesn't feel right, trust your instincts and report it. Your information could make all the difference.

| Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace family of a man from the Harpurhey area of Manchester

James Berry aged 82, passed away at home on Regency Close on the 16th October 2026.

There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Anyone with information about James’ next of kin should contact the Police Coroner’s Office in Manchester on 0161 856 2334
