We were delighted to attend Signpost for Carers' 40th birthday celebrations last night 🥳

Signpost for Carers provide support for carers aged 6 to 96 in Stockport, including respite breaks, benefits and financial advice, counselling and more.

We were joined by Stockport Mayor, Cllr Mark Hunter, as well as Signpost staff, board members, volunteers and carers, who enjoyed a raffle, a delicious dinner and entertainment from Signpost's carers singing group.

A lovely evening supporting a great partner organisation! 🎈

📌 Where & when:

Ordsall Hall
Thursday 24th September
10am - 12pm
Drinks and snacks provided
Pottery or model painting activity (optional - if you're feeling creative!)

📌Who can apply

This event is open to all carers in Salford and Manchester, including parent carers, current carers and former carers (providing you have cared for someone in the past 5 years)

We'd particularly love to hear from people within the LGBTQ+ community and those from the Global Majority (people who identify as Black, Asian, Brown or have dual-heritage), who are typically under-represented in the media.

As spaces are limited, a small group will be shortlisted for this opportunity.

Our next Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) course begins on Monday 5th October - and we'd love for you to join us. Here are the details:

🩷 What is MBCT?

MBCT is an evidence-based therapy recommended by the NHS as an effective treatment for depression and anxiety.

Mindfulness is a particular way of paying attention to the present moment that helps to bring awareness and acceptance to things as they are.

Cognitive behavioural therapy is an evidence-based treatment for depression and anxiety. Its aim is to help us notice and understand the links between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviour.

MBCT combines these two powerful approaches and is a great way to get to know the patterns of your mind and learn to work with them in a different way.

🩷 What does the course entail?

Through this free 8-week course, you will learn and practise simple meditations and activities to help you:

- Bring awareness to thoughts, feelings, sensations, and impulses

- Gain a greater appreciation of the present moment

- Help you to respond more wisely to difficult and stressful situations

- Be kinder to yourself

🩷 Who can participate?

Participants must be registered with a GP under Manchester City Council and/or have a home address within this geographical area. Booking does not automatically enrol you onto the course; you will need to have an initial telephone appointment to confirm suitability.

🩷 How to book

To find out more and to register your interest, head to our website: https://www.gaddum.org.uk/mbct/
