✨️ A Little Library Gets a Second Chance! ✨️

Thanks to our friends at Heightvale Ltd one of our original park Little Libraries has been given a fantastic new lease of life. After being abandoned and destined for the skip, it was rescued by a park ranger and lovingly restored.

It's now looking better than ever!

Margaret and John from Friends of Ladybarn Park will be opening up as usual this Saturday, so why not stop by and see the transformation?

Little Library open Saturdays 11am - 1pm

Celebrate National Play Day with us this Wednesday 5 August🛝

We'll be at Platt Fields Park from 11am, as part of our summer reading roadshows series!

Come along for storytelling, choose a free book to take home, and take part in fun activities inspired by this year's Summer Reading Challenge, Read to the Beat. We'll be making our own junk instruments and discovering how stories, music and imagination go hand in hand.

The wonderful Manchester Libraries team will also be there, sharing everything you need to know about the reading challenge and answering any questions about your local libraries.

Will you be coming along?

Tonight we discussed The Barbecue at No 9 by Jennie Godfrey it was a resounding success! All the readers loved the nostalgia and the interesting way the plot played out. They also thought that the characters had great depth just as we did with The List of Suspicious Things. Great 2nd book from Jennie.

Our next book is The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali we will be discussing this a little later than usual on Friday the 4th Sept as I am off to see Pulp on the usual date!!!🥳

If you would like to join our friendly online book club please email [email protected] and we will add you to our list.

For the parade we wanted to celebrate books and nod to the theme of animals, in particular the birds and foxes of Burnage. Thanks to Didsbury Arts Festival for hosting. Click through to read our versions of these classic books!

What an amazing day we had at the . We marched in our brilliant book costumes made by Caroline Jane from Withington Free Little Library. It was amazing to see so many people marching and to see all the people who came to wave us on. We saw lots of friends and neighbours along the way.

Our park volunteers Dawn and Jake had already been busy since we set up at 10, and we stayed busy all afternoon. We distributed around 500 books, chatted about reading and the summer reading challenge and most importantly little libraries.

What an amazing day! Thanks to the orgainsers for all their hard work to pull this off!

To enable us to participate in more events like this we need more volunteers so please get in touch if you would like to volunteer.
