South Manchester Care’s CQC assessment, published on 9 September 2026, rated the service Inadequate overall and placed it in special measures.
We acknowledge the seriousness of the findings and apologise that our service did not consistently meet the standards people and their families were entitled to expect.
An organisational improvement programme is underway, focused on:
• Strengthening leadership, governance and accountability.
• Reviewing recruitment, training and staff competency.
• Improving care planning, medicines management and safeguarding.
• Strengthening staffing continuity and communication with families.
Revised management arrangements are being introduced, with our incoming manager due to join on 14 September and nurse-led competency assessments scheduled from October.
We recognise that improvement must be demonstrated through sustained changes in everyday care. Our responsibility is to deliver those changes and rebuild confidence through safe, reliable support and transparent communication.
