Thanks to Malvern Gazette for the great coverage of our club's annual Hills Access event.

Also to all the guests, volunteers, Eastnor Castle Landrover Experience and the lovely staff at the h20 cafe for making this such a fantastic day.

One lady hadn't been up the hill for 30 years. One gentleman said, after returning from the Beacon 'We live in a wonderful world, don't we?'

Something to remember.

Residents have reached new heights on a special outing

Residents of Welland House let us know their residents had enjoyed the day:

'I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Malvern Rotary club for making yesterday possible, my residents throughly enjoyed their afternoon yesterday and all the staff were absolutely wonderful.

Kind regards,

Elaine Cutler

Some guests of Malvern Rotary Hills Access shared this note of appreciation:

"I would like to thank you for arranging this trip for our residents once again this year.

Betty and Sally both had a wonderful and memorable time (as did I) and it was a pity that David dropped out at the last minute as I am sure her would have enjoyed it too. Betty told me that she "wouldn't have missed it for the world".

On Wednesday August 12th our brilliant Malvern Rotary club helped by volunteer friends and family hosted the Hills Access event.

Thanks to your efforts, over 28 residents of local care homes and people living with limited mobility were able to stand on top of the Worcester Beacon - many of them for the first time in decades.

The response to seeing the wonderful vistas was truly humbling.

A shout out goes to Eastnor Castle Landrover Experience, for providing the vehicle and driver; to the H20 cafe staff for opeing especially for us and providing delicious cake and refreshments for our guests; to the activity co-ordinators of the various care homes for helping get their residents signed up for this wonderful day out.

Many thanks to the Ukraine Freedom Company and our Satellite Club for organising a screening of the film '20 days in Mariupol' - it was a truly brilliant, memorable evening, reminding us of the terrible price paid by our Ukrainian friends for the war with Russia.

Funds were raised for distribution to mothers living in refuges near the border and for injured soldiers.

Who could imagine Croquet was a fantastic, hard-hitting and competitive sport?

Many thanks to fellow Malvern Rotarians who recently gathered at the home of Tom Bot for a few rounds of this supposedly genteel but in reality, highly tactical and enjoyable sport!

It helped that the weather was perfect, the views from Tom's lawn fantastic, and my fellow competitors helped drive up the standards. Refreshments provided by Tom before and after the games very much welcomed.

More fixtures to follow, will keep you posted.

Thanks to the generosity of the wonderful people of Malvern, our team raised a fantastic £1150 in donations to our table display outside Waitrose last weekend! The money will go directly to pay for supplies for mothers and babies living in refuges near the border with Russia, for comfort boxes for soldiers on the frontline and medical supplies and walking aids.

Thanks also go to Nora the Ukraine Supporting collie, seen below proudly wearing her Ukraine kerchief, who performed her best trick (sitting for a biscuit) in return for donations to the cause!

This coming Friday May 22nd, Saturday 23 and Sunday 24th we'll be joining forces with Malvern Rotary's Ukrainian Satellite club to raise funds outside Malvern's Waitrose, in aid of Women's refuges, babies living with mothers in refuges, wounded soldiers and civilians in Ukraine.

Nora the Wonder Dog will be helping me out on Saturday 22nd and she's looking forward to meeting you - she's got her outfit ready, please stop by, and if you donate, she'll do a trick for you!
