We currently have 18 new wholetime firefighter recruits going through their initial training and they’re about to push themselves even further!

On 2nd December, from 9:00am to 5pm, they’ll be completing a Step-Up Challenge at the LNER Community Stadium in York, while wearing full fire kit and breathing apparatus, in aid of The Fire Fighters Charity.

This incredible charity provides vital care and wellbeing support to UK Fire and Rescue Service members and their families.

Today, on Remembrance Sunday, we pause to honour all those who served and sacrificed for our freedom.

As firefighters, we stand in gratitude to those who put others before themselves — a spirit of duty that continues to inspire us every day.

We also remember the 1,027 firefighters who gave their lives over the course of the second world war, including 997 who died during the relentless 57 nights of bombing in the 1940 Blitz.

At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, We will remember them.

Last night, our On-Call Firefighters spend their drill night working on their basic skills.

Although these skills are relatively simple, they are skills that must be practiced on a regular basis, to make sure they can be done in a quick, but safe manner.

Thank you to everyone who attended our open day, today.
It was great to see so many people.
All together we raised £150 for the Firefighters Charity.
Thank you to Malton WI for providing cakes and sweet treats and to ZAKS Pud Pod for a donation from their takings today.
Also to North Yorkshire Police - Ryedale and the two police cadets that attended with a police car, Community First Responder Jon Ainley from Yorkshire Ambulance , Steve Ferry, Chris and Billy Hustwick for bring along their beautiful vintage fire engines 🚒.

At 19.45 yesterday evening, our On-Call Firefighters were mobilised, along with our colleagues from Pocklington Fire Station, Humberside Fire & Rescue Service, to an agricultural building fire in Acklum, 6 miles south of Malton.

The fire involved one storage barn which contained timber and farm machinery.
Crews acted swiftly on the first appliance arrival to contain the fire with two hose reel jets, before it could spread to the farm machinery.

On the request of the Incident Commander, the farm machinery was moved out by the farmer.

The cause of this Fire is currently unknown and is under investigation by the service fire investigation officer.

Our On-Call Firefighters along with colleagues from Pocklington Fire Station, are currently in attendance at an agricultural building Fire in Acklam.
The fire is now under control and cruise are now damping down.
