Remembrance Parade – Sunday 8th November 🇬🇧

Join together to honour and remember those who have served and sacrificed for our country. The annual Remembrance Parade will take place on Sunday, 8th November, and everyone is welcome to attend and pay their respects.

This event is organised by Maltby Town Council in conjunction with the Royal British Legion in Maltby.

Please check the latest advice on road closures, which will be in place for public safety during the parade. See images for approximate road closure times.

If you need to travel around this time, plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.

🚌 Bus services and routes may also be affected, as bus companies have been notified of the event. Please check with your operator for the most up-to-date information.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we mark this important day of remembrance.

Around 52p from every litre of fuel is Tax. Which is within the Governments control.

So burnhams great idea get Google to list prices.

I know people are worried about fuel prices. And I get it. You get to the pump, watch the numbers climb, and wonder why it's costing so much more than it used to.

The reality is that global events are pushing up costs, and families here at home are feeling the impact.

But I won't accept that there's nothing I can do to help.

That's why from today, you'll be able to see petrol and diesel prices on Google Maps, compare nearby stations and find the cheapest option before you fill up.

It's a small change, but if there's a practical way to help people keep more money in their pocket, I'll do it.

🎉 National Cadet Week is here, and it is a fantastic time to discover everything the Army Cadets have to offer! To celebrate, we are inviting the local community to an open evening for D Company—which proudly covers Detachments in Maltby, Rotherham, Sheffield, and Barnsley—The Open Evening held at the Maltby Detachment on Thursday the 8th of October from 19:00 to 21:00. Whether you are a prospective cadet, a parent wanting to learn more, or an adult interested in rewarding volunteering opportunities across any of our community areas, everyone is warmly welcome to come along.
During the evening, you will have the chance to hear directly from our current cadets and adult volunteers about the incredible experiences, life skills, and benefits that come with being part of the Army Cadets. Alongside these inspiring stories, there will be live demonstrations showcasing the diverse activities we take part in. Come down and see how we help build confidence, leadership, and teamwork in a fun and supportive environment—we look forward to seeing you there!

🚨 Important Update on School Road Safety 🚨
Following our motion, next week the School Road Safety Review heads to the Overview and Scrutiny Management Board (OSMB), followed by the Cabinet.
As opposition councillors, we don't have the dedicated power to implement changes directly, but through motions we can raise the common issues we all face and drive the agenda forward. Having proposed the motion and chaired this review, I’ve seen firsthand how crucial this work is. Every child and family deserves to travel to and from school without fear, congestion, or dangerous driving conditions.
Let’s hope our local decision-makers listen to the evidence and accept these vital recommendations to make our roads safer for everyone.

Yesterday, Hellaby and Maltby West ward Councillors Simon Ball and Lynda Stables were delighted to be back in school at Maltby Redwood Academy.

Simon and Lynda arranged the event with Rotherham Council’s Electoral Services, giving the children the opportunity to experience the voting process for themselves.

The children visited the polling station, completed their ballot papers, cast their votes and were involved in the count. They were voting for the outdoor seating design they would most like to see in their school grounds.
🙂💛

It was wonderful to see the children taking part so enthusiastically and learning a little more about how voting and our Electoral Services work.

We are keen to promote democracy and encourage people of all ages to understand the importance of having their voice heard within their community.

Thank you to Maltby Redwood Academy, its newly elected School Council and Electoral Services for making the day such an enjoyable and worthwhile experience
