***ROAD CLOSURE***

The A429 in Malmesbury is currently closed at the Whychurch Roundabout following a road traffic collision.

A diversion is in place via Crudwell.

We would like to thank the public for their patience while emergency services attend the scene.

A man has appeared in court charged with 16 shoplifting offences.

Nathan Harland, 21, of no fixed address, Malmesbury, appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court yesterday (27/8) charged with 16 counts of shoplifting at Co-Op stores in Malmesbury.

He has been remanded on conditional bail until his next appearance in court on October 5.

One of his conditions is not to enter any Co-Op store in Malmesbury.

A man has sadly died following a collision in Minety.

At approximately 7.05pm, an Audi Rs3 was travelling northeast along the B4040 from the direction of Charlton towards Minety when the vehicle left the carriageway and collided with a tree.

No other vehicles were involved.

The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 40s from Swindon, sadly died at the scene. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

A passenger in the Audi – a man in his 50s – was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The road was closed whilst collision investigators carried out enquiries at the scene.

Any witnesses to the collision, or anyone who may have dash cam footage, is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 298 of August 7.

ROAD CLOSURE

The B4040 between Minety and Cricklade has been closed following a serious collision.

It is likely that the road will be closed for some time and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.

PCSO Evans has been busy today (12/07) conducting patrols around Malmesbury and she also popped by the Rona Steam & Vintage Rally, although a bit warm out, it was great to see so many people. As well as attending 999/101 calls in between, it has been a very busy hot shift. Stay cool everyone.

Please be aware we have had to close Charlton Road between the bridge and village of Charlton due to a collision.

Please avoid the area whilst the incident is dealt with and the road is cleared
