Working in policing can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also bring challenges.

Ahead of World Mental Health Day we visited Kent Police's Health & Wellbeing services to hear about the work they do and the support available for the mental health and wellbeing of police officers and staff.

Support is available.

đź‘® Kent Police officers and staff can find mental health and wellbeing support through the Healthy You pages on the force intranet.

đź’™ The Oscar Kilo National Police Wellbeing Service also provides resources and support for everyone working in policing: www.oscarkilo.org.uk/for-individuals

📞 Anyone working in policing experiencing a mental health crisis or suicidal thoughts can contact the independent and confidential 24/7 Mental Health Crisis Line on 0300 131 2789.

It’s National Cadet Week!

This week we’re celebrating the fantastic contribution of police cadets across Kent.

More than 430 cadets are involved across the county, supported by 122 volunteer leaders, developing new skills, building confidence and making a positive difference in their communities.

Earlier this year, we were pleased to award ÂŁ2,000 from the Police Property Act Fund to Kent Police Cadets, helping provide residential opportunities for cadets from financially disadvantaged families.

👏 A huge thank you to all of Kent’s cadets and the volunteers who give their time to support them.

Kent residents have made their views clear on police force reform.

The Police and Crime Commissioner has written to Lord Hogan-Howe and Kent MPs to share the final results of our public consultation on police force mergers. Of the 2,647 responses received, 84% of respondents were opposed to merging police forces. More than half of respondents, 52%, believed there would be no benefits to a merger.

The findings have been submitted as part of the national discussion on police reform, ensuring the views of Kent residents are represented as decisions about the future structure of policing are considered.

You can read the full consultation report and findings here - https://www.kent-pcc.gov.uk/get-in-touch/consultations/

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their views.
