Due to continued growth, we are now looking to recruit Ambulance Controllers to join our operations team.
-The Role-
This is a fast-paced and highly responsible role at the centre of our operation. You will be responsible for coordinating ambulance crews, planning patient journeys, and ensuring safe, efficient service delivery across our contracts.
This is not a purely desk-based role โ we expect our Controllers to develop operational understanding and, where required, be capable of deploying on the road to support ambulance crews. This ensures real-world insight and strengthens overall service delivery.
-Shift Pattern-
- 4 on / 4 off rotation
- 12-hour shifts: 08:00 โ 20:00
- Includes weekends and bank holidays
- Flexibility is essential to support service demands and cover leave where required.
-Key Responsibilities-
- Dispatching and coordinating ambulance crews in real time
- Planning and optimising patient transport routes
- Managing live operational changes and incidents
- Liaising with NHS partners, hospitals, and internal teams
- Maintaining accurate records and data entry systems
- Producing incident and operational reports as required
- Supporting staff rota planning and administrative duties
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
- Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong IT and administrative skills
- Excellent communication (written and verbal)
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- High level of attention to detail
- Logical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Ability to multitask and prioritise workload effectively
- Previous experience in patient transport, ambulance services, or a dispatch/logistics environment
-Desirable-
-Knowledge of ambulance operations or healthcare environments
- Basic Life Support (BLS) awareness
- Experience using radio communication systems
Operational Requirement
All Controllers are expected to be trained to a level that enables them to support frontline ambulance operations when required.
This may include:
- Attending jobs as part of a crew
Supporting operational demand during peak periods
- Gaining practical, on-the-ground experience
- Full training will be provided.
Compliance & Pre-Employment Checks
Due to the nature of this role, successful candidates will be required to:
- Undergo an Enhanced DBS check
- Be assessed in line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974
- Provide satisfactory employment references
- Demonstrate the right to work in the UK
- You must be able to handle sensitive patient information in line with GDPR and confidentiality requirements.
