I’ve travelled extensively throughout much of my adult life. More recently I have immersed myself in community activism alongside my work in the pharmaceutical industry. I may be just an ordinary man, but an ordinary man that can affect real change nonetheless. When you have a clear vision anything is achievable. Using my unbridled energy & enthusiasm I intend to put to positive effect the experie

nces gained both at home within the community and those attained internationally. At the very heart of my campaign will be community and social issues; issues that impact upon the life of each and every one of us and issues that the new council will have executive power over. Obviously disappointed with the days result. The good feedback at the door didn't translate into votes. Don't regret a thing, I stood up for what i believed in. I only hope the established parties take on the good ideas I proposed eg. increased playing facilities for kids.
I thought Magherafelt was ready for change but I got that one totally wrong. The fact the TUV were so close to getting a seat should be a wake up call to everybody.
I would urge those with a community minded ethos to get organised. Power does not lie with local politicians but with you. A few individuals with energy, drive, enthusiasm & vision can make huge differences within communities. For proof of that take a wee trip into Killowen Drive (Magherafelt) in 2 weeks time when our community garden is complete.
Will keep the head held high. I will continue to challenge the establishment to deliver for the Magherafelt DEA.

It has been encouraging over the last few weeks to hear people talk bread and butter issues. From simple things such as street signs in Leckagh Cottages & Moneymore to parking in Queens Ave/Kirk Ave to playing facilities for the children. Change is in the air; people are tired of the rhetoric of the established parties who have nothing of substance to offer. Did you hear anybody from SF/DUP/SDLP/UU offer any solutions to local problems when they canvassed your house? I very much doubt it. I only hope people have the conviction to carry through what they saying on the doorstep.
Vote for change.
Vote for independents.
Vote for people who are able to think their own thoughts and speak their own minds
Vote for people who actually have something to offer.

SF election propaganda
I have no problem dispelling any falsehoods from whatever quarter they may come.
This week’s local papers have a claim by SF that they have secured agreement from the housing executive to carry out the proposed work on a community garden in Killowen Drive. The whole project had been agreed months ago. The only accurate part of the article is that the project had stalled because of a bit of red tape. Basically, a few top executives were worried that other estates would kick up a fuss about why Killowen were getting a community garden and they weren’t. The article goes on to say “the group had put a lot of time and effort into the plans” which is being very disingenuous.
SF knows full well who was the driving force into getting the plot of land in question cleared; finding out who was actually responsible for the plot of land; putting in the objection to stop the vet buying the plot; inviting the Housing Executive into the estate; coming up with & planting the idea of a community garden into their head, a garden designed for all but primarily to draw the elderly people in our community out to enjoy their surrounds. In the Housing Executive there is one particular man who put in a colossal amount of work to lobby his seniors, a man who gets on about his business without any fuss or want of publicity. SF was never asked to intervene because they weren’t needed. I have numerous emails confirming the projects go ahead. As it’s an election SF have taken an opportunity to jump on the bandwagon of the good work the Killowen Drive Residents Assoc. You can jump right off again.
I will ask SF or any other political party what they had done over the years to address the eyesore of the piece of neglected land in question. We all know the answer. They all did nothing.
