Wednesdays - Sundays initially, 10am - 4pm, then every day from 27th March until September, 10am - 5pm. You'll find images and videos, news of events and wildlife sightings from the 360 Observatory and the reserve.

Safely relocated from the car park, this grass snake uses its flicking forked tongue to "smell" its surroundings and navigate their world. When threatened, they put on quite a show - gaping their mouth and letting their tongue hang limp to play dead!

With their hibernation period spanning from October to April, we'll be seeing less of these beautiful creatures on the reserve very soon.

Yesterday, we found a landed helium balloon in the reedbeds near the Ceri hide. While we appreciate these often come from a place of love, fallen balloons pose a serious threat to local wildlife through entanglement and ingestion.

This area is home to many species, and we've recently spotted pine marten, fox, and otter in this exact spot.

Sadly, it's part of a growing trend: this season, even our osprey nest contained plastic debris at times.

Weโ€™re so fortunate to share this landscape with such incredible wildlife, and every effort to keep their home safe helps them thrive. ๐Ÿพ

This is the shed we put up a few years ago to deliver beaver watching events.

We did it, but the whole experience was compromised.

Access was difficult, the beavers could hear us, see us and smell us. No photography possible, it was small, creaky and a midge-fest.

Over the winter all this will change. Watch this space ๐Ÿ‘€

A brilliant sight on the reserve this week. ๐Ÿ’š

We spotted a Green Sandpiper foraging at the edge of the beaver pool, plus another two on the scrape beside the Observatory.

Autumn migration is peak time to see Green Sandpipers in Britain as they pass through from their Scandinavian breeding grounds en route to Africa.

Watch your step on the boardwalk today! This impressive Eyed Hawk-moth caterpillar was spotted taking a stroll.

Their lime-green skin, white diagonal side-stripes, and triangular heads mimic the veins and texture of willow and sallow leaves. They often hang upside-down from twigs to blend seamlessly into the canopy.
