MCCR is closing down:
Due to the changed circumstances including lack of requests and enquiries since last year, the MCCR website, email address and page are closing down (the Facebook chat will remain open until further notice).
A Great Big Thank You to everyone involved in setting up and volunteering in such a commendable community effort.
Any future enquiries or requests for help should be directed to CAMAD:

Dear Friends,
Due to the absence of calls in recent weeks, the MCCR central hub helpline is switching to an answerphone message referring any callers on to CAMAD (01654 700071) throughout August after which it may be discontinued until such times as it might be needed again.
The other specialised local support groups’ activities detailed on the website (www.machynllethsupport.net), and the page, are continuing and we still have the database of volunteers and local support groups to call on as and when needed including in support of CAMAD.
Many thanks for your continuing help and support.
With love from everybody at the Hub

Wythnos Gwirfoddolwyr - Volunteers' Week
To everyone who has reached out to a neighbour, checked in that someone is ok, picked up some shopping, walked a dog, delivered leaflets...
You might not feel like you've done much, but all of those little acts of kindness and consideration make all the difference.
Well done and thank you very much.
Da iawn! Diolch yn fawr ###

We know we all do it but just in case please spend a moment thinking about the people around you: family, friends, neighbours and anybody that you can relate to.
This time go beyond asking yourself if their material needs, like shopping or walking the dog, are met. Focus on them as human beings with feelings and find the ones who are single parents, live alone, struggle with mental health issues, suffer from domestic abuse... the ones that need support in the form of empathy and emotional care. If you can think of anybody then get in touch and be there for them.

People are adapting to new ways of shopping and managing their dietary intake.
Powys Teaching Health Board Dietetics gives reliable dietary information in regards to COVID 19 like recipe suggestions, shopping on a budget, food storage/preventing food waste, non-perishable/store cupboard suggestions, basic healthy eating, self-care (e.g. stress/anxiety), nutrition myth busting, etc.
Also have a look at the leaflets attached to the comments
Frequently Asked Questions about nutrition and food in relation to COVID-19 / coronavirus from the BDA. We will keep this page updated as the situation develops.

Across the UK, people are preparing for COVID-19.
What we’ve seen on social media are shelves stripped bare of daily essentials... But something else is happening. People are starting to mobilise, starting to organise. There are pages and Groups and WhatsApp chats popping up all over the place. Should the worst happen, we’ll be stronger because we’re together.
So, feeling helpless, powerless, worried about what the future holds? Wondering what can you do that’s going to make things better?
Simple actions for today:
1. Make sure the people in your neighbourhood don’t feel isolated:
Reach out... obviously maintaining the recommended social distance and having washed your hands/used alcohol based hand sanitiser. Give people your telephone number. Let them know that they can call on you for help.
You can print and distribute this card : https://www.facebook.com/MachCoronaResponse/photos/a.108122037483761/108122060817092
